NOTE: If you don't vote in the poll, your vote will not be counted.

This round will be ending Saturday the 10th.

I think we are going to have to make this the last for a bit. I have jury duty next week or more. Then a trip back east and then sometime TBD my wife is to get her back operated on. Anyhow, there will be a minimum of 2 weeks off and the possibility of much more.

FWIW, the main idea here for most is not how you are doing, but how much you are learning. If you are learning, then this has been a success.

Oh I know. I am much better at grading then I was before, so yes, this has been a HUGE success for me. And for many others as well. Thank you for helping all of us.

I think this coin can go +1/-1 in either direction of the 63 I gave it. I belive it would/could have gotten a 64 if there wasnt that black spot on the lapel of lincoln

AU grades are AU50, AU53, and AU50... There is no "AU63". Mint state (MS) grades range from MS60-70. I believe you've gotten your numbers confused.

Nah! There is a whole thread here about coins that have minor wear (i.e. AU), but get graded MS by the TPG's. He meant just what he said.

LOL....ahhhh...he knows, it's "tongue in cheek", just a fun term we use for a slider here on CT.

The first time I noticed that spot was on the pictures. In hand, the coin is quite dark and those spots are hardly visible. I literally had to look at the picture just now to find the spots again. However, there are a couple interesting strike throughs that are easy to see in hand but don't show well in the pictures. They are between the D and S of UNITED STATES and in the M of AMERICA. Yes, there is a small luster break on Abe's cheek, but nowhere else I can see. All in all, it has nice luster for a brown coin, a nice solid strike and very few ticks. NGC gave it a 62. I am not sure where I am for this one. I cannot argue with a 62, but I think I would go 63.

BTW, Heritage pictures also show a spot, but you can see the strike throughs. http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=131133&lotNo=28012

Close call on the grade, I almost went 62 but there's hardly a hit on it so I gave it the nod up.
