I have 4, all snagged at the bank for face value. I am not REALLY a paper money kind of guy, but I AM a Washington junkie and Silver Certificates make me think about what life must have been like 50+ years ago when our money was still worth something.. Also, some paper money really catches my eye like a red seal $2 or $5 (both I do not have yet.) 2 are star notes. I will scan, and HOPE that they turn out ok. I am just going to picture the obverse. If you need any additional information please let me know. Oh, and yes my camera on my phone sucks. I would have scanned, but I am paranoid about the gov't thinking I am trying to make counterfeits. 3. Could you possibly post a picture of the whole note, along with the reverse? And what are the series, may I ask?

I will try...my phone sucks so bad that if I make it so the whole not shows, you can't make ANYTHING out. Also, they are ALL 1957.

Unless they are 67PPQ, not worth a whole lot. Circs will bring, what, $3-$4, $5 max???? There are a ton of them out there still.

Meh, just wondering. My knowledge is mostly based in coins, not currency. Still would love to get more silver certs or a red seal $5.

There is no need to be paranoid about the gov't thinking you're trying to make counterfeits by scanning notes; that's the way to get the best image of a note and is done all the time. Now if you're trying to make double sided prints with the scans that could draw unwanted attention.

I've scanned every single note I have in my collection except for my colorized $5's-$50's (which is ALOT). The government WILL NOT do anything about this. The newer colorized bills have anti-counterfeit material in them that stops your scanner (if your scanner is new enough) from scanning the bills. No need to be paranoid about the "scary government people" when scanning a couple old wrinkled 1957 $1 silver certificates lol. Plus, are they all '57s? Or are there any '57As and '57Bs. The '57Bs are the rarest.

Scratch that last stupid question. I can answer it for myself by looking at the signatures.
    1st pic is '57. 2nd is '57B. 3rd and 4th are '57As.

No one has mentioned that the top two are stars, that has to increase value, right?

Yes, this was mentioned in his original post lol. I got these for face about 3 or 4 months ago:

    Stars: IMG_1483.jpg Non stars: IMG_1485.jpg

These are just my higher graded '57s only. I also have '35 *'s and more lower graded '57s. They actually aren't too rare, yet ;).

Ooops I also forgot to mention that the 2 left *'s are Uncirculated and all the non stars are AU-CU.

I maen in the responses, no-one has factored anything about them being stars into their answer.

You'd be surprised how common they are. Back then, the printing presses weren't as regulated and electronic as they are today so more bills were messed up during the printing process therefor more star notes were created. If they were in better shape, such as the ones I posted, then we'd be talking. I mean c'mon, he snatches 4 S.C.'s from the bank and half of them are stars... That alone pretty much says it all. Still, the stars are obviously better and still less common than regulars, but it doesn't make a significant difference yet. Don't mistake me for putting these notes down, I'd be more than happy to get them from the bank and save them for years.

The value for these notes are all the same in Fine condition. It is hard to see what condition they are in from the pics, but all are worth $3 in Fine and the stars worth $6 in XF.
