Did a box of dimes and a box of nickels. Dimes gave up three silver roosies. Nickels had nothing in the way of wars or buffys. :(

Had a couple of these, though...

46 V-Nickels. The irony of my earlier statement is quite acute at this point, haha. :D

Have you ever looked inside one of those donation boxes at the checkout and seen silver or some coin(s) that you wanted inside out of reach? Well there was one of those at the coin counter at my bank with 3 silver dimes, a few wheats, and plenty of foreign coins. :( And that was just on the top.

Seems like more and more tellers are getting savey to silver. Most of the banks I frequent now have at least one teller that cherry picks.

1885 without cents is the oldest. Nicest? Haven't closely looked at them yet. There were two enders as well, that surprised me when I opened the box. I found 5 V-nicks prior to this box in $11,780 searched. This box yielded two rolls with six, two with five, a few with four and three.

    Hey all

This is my first post here. I started reading on this thread and it inspired me to buy a box of halves from my bank. Took some doing to find a bank that would order one for me, but i finally got it tonight. Opened it and found the following:

    3 x 1968 JFK
    1 x 1967 JFK
    2 x 1965 JFK

Not bad for my first box. Ordered another from the same bank and it comes in thursday. Hope this continues.

You bet your skinny butt. When the first three rolls I opened (the two enders and the one between them) yielded 16, I knew it was going to be a good time. :D

Nicest of the lot is actually the '83 No Cents, probably a VF coin. Shame I have an AU example I picked up for a song back in the day.

Ace, go pick up a few boxes of nickels tomorrow. The enders were towards the end of the box, I have a feeling this run stretches a couple boxes. I don't work tomorrow, but I do work Sat Sun Mon, and on Sat, I'm cleaning them out of nickels when I go in to pick up my halves. If they were delivered together, I will get them. Also going to show the tellers what I found and ask them to hold 'em if they find any for me. :)

I did a box of halves today. Got one 1967, a Medio Balboa (1/2 dollar from Panama) and a really fantastic Mint State 1989-P half. I will have to take pics in a couple days and put it up to see where it grades. I am hoping MS65-66. Also got one of those gold-plated halves (bicentennial).

Also got a two tail half which I can barely see where coins were cut and glued together.

Yes, actually. My personal 'favorite find' happened maybe a month or two ago. I was cashing in a lottery scratcher that I won $11 on at my local grocery store and as the manager of the store was getting my cash I noticed the "Feed the homeless." clear plastic change box had a silver dime (1946) in it. Upon closer inspection I notice it was sitting directly on top of a 1964 quarter. There was maybe all of $2 in change in this box at best, so I figured I'll ask if I can put $1 in and get that 35 cents. He said YES! I was stoked. In one day I bought a $1 scratcher that got me $11, found at the time what was about $12 worth of silver, and bought my wife and I lunch with the rest of the money.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the counter where you cash you tickets in was maybe all of 5 paces from a CoinStar. I assume they donated a few coins that the CoinStar kept rejecting, and that is how the two silvers ended up right on top of one another.

    Yesterdays search:

    $140 MWR of Halves - 2 Proofs (1971 and 1976)
    Box of Halves - Skunk
Box of Dimes - 2 Silver Rosies
Box of Nickels - 2 War Nickels, 10 from the 40's and 21 from the 50's.

Modest start to Sept compared to some, but I'll take it!

Absolutely sick Merc! I'm a little surprised at no youtube video when you saw the enders. How does 46 V-Nickels in a box happen? I can understand turning in silver becuase they just dont know and 1964 isn't that old, but in the 1800s thats crazy. Out of the 46 coins how many different dates were there?

Went through a box of nickels and got 1 war, 28 pre-60, 1 '72 proof. Still haven't found a buffalo out of 5 boxes which is awful. Went to a local Capitol One and asked for any halves and they said they had a box if I wanted it. I was hesitant but said yes and they brought out an unopened NF String box. Looked through it and there was nothing, 0-2 on those boxes for me. Picked up a cent box from BAC which I usually don't do and there was a total of 7 wheaties, my worst box ever. So basically i'm gonna stick with halves from BAC and everything else from PNC. That same day my dad had gotten a box of cents from PNC and pulled 20 wheaties, including a couple from the 20s and 2 steel cents, 1 of them AU.
