Went to Wachovia today asking for halves. The teller helping me doesn't have any but goes to the drive thru teller and comes back and says the drive thru teller has one, but she is saving it for a customer. I said, what am I not a customer? She was new and didn't seem to understand what I was saying and I had my baby girl with me so I didn't feel like making a big deal, but some of these tellers are unbelievable. Did go to PNC bank and got 2 halves. The teller there said, yeah i have two, but one is really dirty. I thought when I saw it, yeah it should be dirty, it is 47 years old (1964).:)

Yeah, "saving for a customer" means that another person has first dibs on all of that. And the tellers don't understand that more than one customer may want to get a certain type of coinage from them at the bank.

I've had to deal with that and it's usually not successful because in their (the tellers) mindset/belief system the teller will be letting the customer down if they give it to some other customer. But, sometimes, if you can show the bank how "valuable" you are to the bank (usually by having a certain amount in your account and alluding to future business with the bank) you can overcome their objections and change their belief system. PS - It doesn't hurt to let them know that they don't have to tell the other customer that they gave away the coins to someone else.

"Saving it for another customer" means its silver and they're keeping it, around here at least.

Yep, pretty much.....Although yesterday I went to a random bank and asked for halves, the guy told me he was going to save me time and tell me the 132.00 in halves he had were searched by him already. Thanks I said! I adked if he found anything and he saif nothing, so it saved me a good amount of time.

Back at work after two days off with no power/phones. Working off generators for who knows how long. Still no power at home and most of the banks...yikes. Did manage a find last Friday out of $150 CWR/BWR Quarters. A BU 1964 Quarter from the CWR.

    $240 in dimes on Sat - 1 X 1956 Rosie, very black

Yesterday, Cashed in the $240 north of me about 20 miles (they have power) and
Got shorted 105 dimes counted as cents in the coin counter, let them know, and maybe they will credit my account once the bank sends out the bag to be counted....Then, picked up

    Box of dimes - Skunk
I really hope the power comes back on soon.

Went through another $60 worth of Quarters. Found a Grand Canyon and Guam. So for 480 quarters I come up with one ATB and 2 territories. How do you guys do your spreadsheets to keep track of your finds?

8 boxes of halves and only (1) 40% to show for it. Yuck... Hopefully, tomorrows four boxes are better.

Anybody know how we can figure out the various codes on Half Boxes(Loomis)? I am geting a variety of numbers thinking that they are coming from different plants across my Fed District.

    Thanks

That's the set I'm building, MS64 or better with FB... I paid well over guide for that coin, but I really like it. About 40% over guide, paid $90. It's a 64FB. I've got a long way to go, got most of the cheapies outta the way and about 20% done.

Just to keep this roll-searching related, I figure if I save all of my silver finds from a decade of roll searching, I can buy a '16-D in MS64FB. $20k coin, lol.

Man it's been awhile since I posted(school can do that) anyways I've been doing fairly well lately, finding atleast one silver coin every day I search one bank has provied me with some truly Awsome BRW H's out of the $50 per-day limit they set on me my average has to be around 4-5 40%re's. Today I went through $450 in dimes and found one merc, one roosie, and one 50% cunuk coin. Bringing my 3 month total too

    40% H-83
    90% H-7
    War N-6
    D-17

Plus a ton of pre60 nickels and wheat pennies

I'm thinking of looking through quarters pretty soon does anyone find and silver in those boxes?

That is some awesome luck! From the stats that I read in this thread most people find 1 silver quarter in every $1 - $1.5K searched...however my own luck has been a ton better. I found 3 silver quarters in rolls I bought for laundry in about a 6 week span (So, roughly $60). Then another 2 or 3 in random places...a charity change box that was made of clear plastic...a quarter and dime ontop of one another (I put $1 in, manager ok'd it.) 1 in a teller tray at a bank, and 1 somewhere else. However, that seems to be uncommon. Most find silver Qs in reject tubes at bank coin counters..which no banks here seem to have.
