In 2006 I moved from TN to NY, and then in 2008 moved back to TN. I metal detect as a hobby, and had started keeping all my silver/rings/gold in a small can. The can went with me to NY, but vanished after I got there.
I lost more than what's in the picture, but in all it was 5 silver rings, 1 small gold ring, 1 1945 50 peso mexican goil coin (used as the centerpiece of a medallion on a necklace), about 10 mercuries, a handful of silver war nickels, a few silver rosevelts, and a few silver quarters. This picture was from one of my best days digging, and it's the only time I've ever found a golden coin.

I haven't lost anything of major consequence. There was a Canadian Loon dollar I got when I was a kid I really liked. I don't know what ever happened to it after several moves but I always thought they were cool. And I'm not into collecting Canadian coins. But one day I was thinking about it and decided to buy one off ebay, in better condition than the one I had. I think they're cool.

Other than that, all I can say that's currently missing are a handful of silver war nickels. Last I remember, they were in a tube with some junk halves. They weren't anything special, but I don't believe I can locate them if I had to. My good set of MS war nickels are safely housed in a capital plastics holder. I don't think it will get lost. Stuff doesn't move much any more and if it does, it's pretty methodical.

Well, guys, look at the bright side. Maybe all this stuff that's lost will be found by somebody some day and they'll become collectors themselves.

I cannot say they are lost, but I cannot find some Silver NZ Sixpence coins. This is extra silver and I thought to maybe sell them on eBay. Retail should be in the $50 range, but I can't find them.

They'll probably turn up some day. I imagine they got mis-filed or something like that.

I was going away for vacation and I moved all my displayed collection into an additional safe deposit box at my bank. Just as we were leaving to the airport, I realized there was a medal display from the Columbian Exposition I for got to remove. In a haste I took the medals put them into a ziplock bag (they were already encapsulated) and stashed them. It's been a year now and they still remain hidden from me, and I have looked in all my imagined hidding places throughout the house.

I wouldn't really say they were "lost" but until just recently I didn't really know where my chain cents were. I thought one was here on the computer desk someplace and one I thought was underneath my nightstand at home. Recently gathered some stuff together and came up with two of them, then last week while going through a box in the other room looking for something else I came across the third one. One thing that is bothing me is that one of them is in a flip from an EAC sale, but I don't believe I bought any of them out of an EAC sale. i remember where I bought two of them but I don't recall who I bought the third one from.

Lost an 1881 Morgan dollar. Not even sure what mint it's from. Found it sticking out of the ground in field I was walking through when I was about 13. Gave it to my mom because I thought it was valuable. Had it for the longest time. Moved out and forgot about the coin until I started collecting some years later. I asked my mom where it was and she couldn't find it. I searched the whole house. Don't have any idea where it could be. Still looking for it.

I once misplaced a tube of Krands. I hid it and couldn't remember where. The next day I went out and bought a safe.

Yeah, I was looking for a 1934 NZ sixpence the other day and can't find it. I believe it mis-filed.

I keep a few low-value coins in my desk at work to show people and to look at when I am bored. About two weeks ago, I was sitting at my desk handling a worn 1943 steel cent and dropped it. I could not find it on the floor, in my clothes, on my chair, or anywhere, even after getting under the desk with a flashlight. I can only assume it fell into a gap in the space-time continuum.

My wife liked those hot sausages they sell at convenience stores, one night after work, I stopped and gassed up and bought her one, I left it on the dresser along with my paycheck to cash, the next morning our german short haired pointer ate the paycheck, he left the sausage. The lady at work who handles the payroll thought it was hilarious, my dog ate my check.

Plenty of times. Luckily the cleaning lady always finds them under something. Kiss

Did I leave my EAC Chain Cent in your box? I'm sorry about that. You can just mail it to me whenever it is convenient for you. :D

About 15 years ago, I was sorting through thousands of bulk silver half dollars & keeping the seated, barber, and higher grade walker & Franklins. I found what appeared to be a 1920 Walking Liberty in nice AU. I set it aside (in a secret hiding place) & never found it after that. I keep checking that secret hiding place & I checked those thousands of half dollars over & over for it. Those half dollars are long-gone. I've come to the conclusion that it must have fallen down the wall behind the tongue-in-groove paneling.
