Picked up my two boxes of halves yesterday. Guy asked me what I was doing with them, told him looking for errors and oddities.
    Box 1 - 90%er and 3 40%ers
    Box 2 - Skunk - 1 GOLD PLATED 1974 KENNEDY???
Weird, same exact results as last time but this time the lone 90%er was a Kennedy not a Frankie.

I've found several of those gold (?) plated H's; got pics I've been meaning to post...

When a teller asks me what I do with all the haves, if it's a large quantity, I tell them I look for the odds, etc, adding that I am looking for a 1987-D. If it's just a few loosies, I might tell them that my niece and nephew are fascinated by them and I use the H's to "bribe" them to do chores, etc... :)

    Sorter,
A couple weeks ago I cashed in a bag of Halves with BoA. I counted how much was in the bag so I knew, and gave to them to count and credit my account. All went well and I was credited the exact amount I expected.

Nice. I wouldn't expect any problems with the count, and was told that the count could even be off a bit, and they'd still give full credit; at the same time, they were giving me the cash on the spot. The problem for me is I've been told in several branches that the cost is $3 (or $5) per bag loose, free if rolled, but another branch told me $5/bag. Period. I just don't go to that last branch at all anymore. I bring smaller amounts of mixed rolls to other branches now - spreading the dump burden around a bit.

I was dumping at a Chase in another town a few weeks ago, and they told me they don't charge at all for loose in bags, but I have to wait for it to be counted and credited to my account; if it's rolled, they just give me the cash on the spot. Right now, I can't have that much roll hunting cash out of circulation. When I work up some more reserves, I'll be checking into Chase's free counting service.

    Thanks for the follow up!

The teller was nice and offered to count it right there on the spot with me (very surprised), I was on lunch and it would have taken a while so I declined. It was loose in a bag and was credited to my account within like 5 business days. There is no good way to get rid of halves around me, so for me this is a good option, no one has to count them and they don't roll their eyes at me trying to turn in a huge amount. I had a small amount of cash that I turned over hard for the days I was without those funds so I managed to still hunt.

Dumped $100 in halves while cashing my check, they thought they were "neat". I was only too happy to help them out with that. Picked up $100 in dimes CWR from a different bank and scored a real nice and thick 1962 Rosie.

On a side note we just felt the earthquake that happened in the DC/Virginia area...

We were swaying in the Philly burbs too. We all left the office to just be safe.

Yes, in Connecticut we felt it (101 miles from NYC). My chair was swaying back and forth, I looked around and others were noticing the same thing happening. Ground was swaying and we saw people from the building across the street running out from all doorways. It was strange, we never experienced anything like that before.

Report from the field! 2!! Canadian 80% silver quarters  1948 George VI and a 1960 Elizebeth II. Also, a lone 1967 40% half. Happy to get what I get, but why are all the 40%ers I get always from 1967? Is that the central point in the space-time continueum?

I am about 100 miles from there( I live close to Boston). So maybe that's why I didn't feel anything.

Okay...so I'm going to give this roll hunting a go. I grabbed my first box today, a box of dimes from my bank. Got it home and noticed all of the rolls were clear wrapped. That made it fairly easy to search for silver. The 5th roll gave me a 52-S and the 41st roll gave me a 62 from checking the edges through the clear wrap. Do you guys break open the clear wrapped rolls and look at each date individually too?

Just look at the rims for silver. No need to waste time searching each coin individually.

Picked up my weekly box of halves today. Glad to report I found 2-1964's and 1-1967 :) best box yet for me. Had bank up my order to two boxes next week. Also picked up 3 boxes of pennies to keep me busy in the mean time.

    Box of halves, two 64s.

While cashing in, I noticed their half bag had $10 in 64s on the bottom. Manager told me to ramp up the box ordering if I wanted them because he isn't allowed to pull from bags.
