Gold coin possibly Spanish??

    Hello all.

    I recently found this Gold coin in a Field in France while Detecting could anybody identify it and possibly put a rough value to it, I do need to measure it and weigh sometime. its roughly the size of a thumb nail. many thanks:) 2nd small coin.jpg small resize coin.jpg

    I know nothing about Spanish coins, but I've got to say "Huzzah!" to any metal detecting find that is that pretty.

    How are French laws of ownership though? Unless you owned the field you were detecting in, the ownership of that coin is kinda iffy.

    Same here and this is my first ever Gold coin. Im happy:)

    Not sure of the laws here in France but will split with the owner of the land

    I think I have identified it has a Gold 2 Escudos Phillipe III 1650s
