Yep, NO cc's minted that year!

  4. Four people posted about that, and yet, the item has 12 bids as of now

I like how his excuse is that he "doesn't know anything about coins."

Not only that, but IN GOD WE TRUST wasn't added until 1866!

VDBPenny, I reported it Friday and it's still listed. So much more reason to believe in Ebay.

Just sent him a message stating same thing.
"This is a fake coin. The front (Obverse) is a 1844, as the date states, but the back (reverse) shows not only the CC Mint Mark, of which mint was not in operation in 1844, but it also has the motto above the eagle. The motto above the eagle was added in 1866. In 1844, the reverse would have NO motto (In God We Trust)."

I think "VDBPenny" is not a coin but the name of one of the posters upthread.

I am still missing the link. However, I will say that the coins are really reviewed by a committee and I doubt seriously they work on weekends.

That looks like the worst cast counterfeit I've seen in a long time! They bearly took the time to remove the flesh around the edges, and if that didn't give it away the porosity holes all over the coin is a dead give away. You don't need a lesson in history to know it's a fake!
    $130 bucks? Unbelievable!

I reported it as well. And it kills me that people are STILL bidding even with all the people telling him it's a fake. Guess people just do not look at the whole listing.
