now the u.s. mint will release the 25th anniversary american eagle silver five coins set. the set composed of 1 proof eagle, 1 bullion eagle, i reverse proof eagle, i unc eagle w/ w mint mark, and i unc eagle w/ s mint mark. mintage 100,000. limit 5 set per individual, no price announced. offer late october.
Since it's going to be 5 ounces of silver I wonder if they'll charge a price similar to the ATB coins. Here is the link to the mint announcement: http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/?action=press_release&id=1276
That should be a Great set like the 2006 set with the reverse proof edit: I saw a set of 3 PCGS PR69's (2006) go for $350 a few days ago on ebay!
Omfg hougifygihgdiy(fvljbuto&ugjpoih(hu)*g(^f!!!!!!!!! Are they really making another reverse proof eagle!!????
I'll guess $450 to $500 each. It'll be a big collectors box which will of course cost more. Silver was around $12.50 an ounce when the three coin sets were offered in 2006 for $100 each. Silver today is nipping at the heels of $44.00.
The set will be pricey but I'll just go on bread and water for two weeks....... I'm excited about this one. Obviously, the San Fran will have a mint mark. Wonder what that's going to do to the marketability of those graded San Fran eagles. You know......the "S" less ones.
The 2006 set is valued at 360 for the set. The reverse proof alone is about 200 of that. Needless to say I will be buying a few of these! Im with the crowd above saying it will retail for 400 to 500
Add this one to my list as well! I wonder if they are going to impose a 1 per household limit? May need to get the wife to order one too.
if the mint understand the collector's need. then the mint should: 1. include S mint mark on that uncirculated silver eagle coin issue from san francisco. 2. include S mint mark on that bullion silver eagle coin and issue strictly from san francisco only. don't just grab those bullion silver coins that don't have any mint mark. and we don't even know that coin is issue from philadelphia or san francisco. this way. we should have three coins with 100,000 mintage. is that great?.
This will be a set that I will hopefully have a shot at getting.. I've been pricing the 2006 sets and will probably have to bite the 300+ mark to have a set as issued...
This may cause a fall in the value of the 2006 set since it will no longer be the ONLY reverse proof anymore. I remember earlier in the year, there were a lot of people griping because the mint wasn't offering a 25th year silver eagle coin. I said then "The year isn't over yet, and they didn't offer the 20 year coin until late in the year." Not much. Remember the "S" less ones are bullion coins while the Uncirculated S coin in this set will be one of the socalled "burnished" pieces like the other W mint "Uncirculated" ones This just means there will now be six 2011 silver eagles this year.
Oh my god, want! Heck, I'd trade my entire collection for just the reverse proof (my collection isn't worth much lol). Reverse proof coins are so beautiful!
