I found this dime in todays change from the store. I'm thinking its due to acid. The reeding is mostly intact except for one worn spot and it is only a hair thinner than other dimes and it weighed in less too at 2.2. I'm guessing the general consensus will be acid but I just wanted to double check that's what made this poor trainwreck...
Hmmm that's an interesting possibility I hadn't considered. Guess I'll ask my husband when he gets home from the store (with penny rolls or he's in the doghouse-and our 5 beagles don't even sleep in one lol). If only coins could talk... Thanks for the suggestion!
Boredom would be my first guess, being ornery would be my 2nd. But I'm going with chemical(Nitric, phosphoric, or muriatic are all likely candidates IMHO)
I never am THAT bored to begin with and would put my energy to better use anyway lol but it's an interesting conversation piece anyway. Oh wait, its not worth a ton of money you say  ? My husband described the condition of "America" as though it was on a beach and the waves and sand washed up on it a couple of times. Thanks for taking a look at it all!
