Good evening everyone, When I started selling on ebay my first real challenge was photos. I was fairly quick to decide not to put grades in my auctions so I had to have good photos. I think the first year people were very happy as the coins looked much better in hand then in my photos. So I tried every possible setup. Bought even a Canon 50 camera with macro lense but gave up as the setup was to large. I have never gotten any complaints over coins, And no returns for 2 years. But you can always do better and a few months ago I strated to make the photos look like a brand add. Like this What I have noticed is the hits, I have not had a good enough comparions to prices as gold and silver just mess that up for me. But I feel like it´s giving the coins the respect they deserve. Mind you the pictures I used to do look like this I have never lost money on coins that have good pictures and never had an unhappy customer. People want to grade coins them selfs and I have not been let down yet by their skills. Siggi
So, what camera do you use now ? And how do you make your pics look better ? I get terrible coin pics Macro does not seem to work for me
I use a cheap canon hand held with macro settings ( stole it from my girlfriend ), The trick is to take the pictures at daylight in your windowsill. It does not take long until you get the feel of it.
Siggi, that first pic? Madison Avenue my friend. Display your wares in this form and folks can't help themselves, 'cept to flock to your auction. I like it......
I usually just scan the coin with a very high resolution and Photoshop the coin. They usually look amazing after. Much easier too!
The first month I used a scaner but the scaner does not pick up on the luster so I quit using it. Correct luster is one of the hardest thing to pick up on a camera. Photoshop Thanks Green, I might just turn my self into a underware modle holding coins. Ok that´s just aufull in my head !
You handle your camera and Photoshop very well. One minor negative comment. Your first image with the overlapping coins will cause some potential buyers to pass. The thinking will be 'What are you trying to hide by overlapping the coins?'
Thanks Kanga, In the listing it self are full pictures of the coins each side. I wouldnt do that if this was the only picture
