Are pre-65 nickels silver? I have mainly wheats and foreign currency in my collection, what else should I collect if the only ways I shall be obtaining them are by my job (I have to count down register tills at night ) pocket change and possibly bank rolls?Do bank rolls contain indian heads and buffalos occasionally?Any advice will be taken. Thanks

Only 1942-1945 which are "War nickels" they are 35% silver and are identified by a large mintmark above Monticello.

That's what I thought but had to check. I've got a couple 40 and 41 but no war. Haven't found a quarter either. Also. Is it worth the effort to save the pre 82 pennies and sell them on ebay bc of the copper. Because I have a good bit of those as well

  5. I keep all copper cents. The melt value is almost 3x face value.

I keep the pre-1982 cents, and nickels dated 1959 and earlier. The cents have copper value, and the nickels are just old and I love nickels!

Probably 50% of my collection (was more until I started buyin stuff) I have gotten at face value. You would be amazed what people will spend. Silver is showing up less but I've found a quarter ('44) and a dime ('46) in the last few days. Best of luck!

Except for the '42-D and '42 type 1. And they don't have the large mintmark Zach points out, so there shouldn't be any question.
