The problem is that on Ebay you can no longer tell if you are bidding against a friend. I told the OP that what he was willing to pay was much less than I thought the coin was worth. He let me know that he wasn't interested enough to go that high, which i considered an ok to go ahead and bid. The price would have been no different than what it is as I have no control over the millions of people that view Ebay. The only thing I did was make sure that I didn't step on a fellow member's toes. The truth of the matter is that had I not discussed with the OP first I would have just not bid so as to not compete with him ahd the coin would have sold for less than it did to someone else.

I can't believe I am catching grief for NOT wanting to step on the toes of another member!

I have respect for the way you handled that with me. Im glad you got the coin. I cant believe the seller really did not know what he had, when I ask him he said he had no ideal what was wrong with the coin, and it turns out to be a retained cud and a nice one at that. The reason I posted the link was to find out for myself what was up with the coin. Congrats on your win please let me see some pic. when you get it.

Then maybe you'll like the cud on this 1867 3-cent piece:

Very nice!!!! I love it, what would it take for you to give that to me??? lol

I really want to get a cud dollar coin Morgan/Peace/Ike. My favorite cud right now is a cud on a "replica" 1793 Large Cent struck with original dies. It has a retained cud on the right side of the reverse, I'll try and get pics up.
