I haven't seen an Ike in a long time. I saw some in the tellers tray today and brought them home. One 71, two 72's, one 74, one 78 and six 76's. Is there anything that I should be looking for? Thanks.
I know this website is tough to look at, but it has much useful information regarding ikes. http://www.ikegroup.org/
The Ike group just came out with a new book on Ike varieties. I ordered it, and flipped through it quickly, but haven't yet read it cover-to-cover yet. You might take a look -- it's available at Wizard, and is, by far, the most information on Ikes available in print.
This site is the best in-depth coverage of the several die clashes and varieties. It has helped me attribute all of mine but make sure you thoroughly check out the main page links to every variety because it can get confusing the first time on it. You didn't specify if they are all Philly mint or if you have any Denver or proofs so I will assume they are all P's. The 72 has 3 varieties that focus on the islands on the earth on the reverse. I won't go on listing all varieties and specifics to look for as I'm not sure of your MMs but the ikegroup is a great free one-stop resource. Be sure to let us see what you find and good luck!
Agreed, the site is VERY useful. But man, the design and layout are giving me diabetes. If you are an owner of the site, please contact me for some web design. I work for books and coins
Nope far from it-i had a few suggestions of my own to be a bit more user-friendly. Not sure what's up with their forum either; I tried for weeks to register but it must have ben closed to new members. I finally gave up on checking back. I love their pics and info though-it's so handy when all the info is on one site instead of googling several. Its great for folks like me who don't have the $ right now to buy books for every coin series.
Thanks to all that responded. Very informative. I was never into Ikes until I saw them in the tellers tray. My bank teller told me that the Burger King across the street deposits three or four Ikes a day lately. She'll save them for me. Looking forward to some fun with them.
19Lyds is a great person to ask too-definitely a huge help to me! Here is a link to some of my 72 P's 3rd variety and my 71 D with several of the different die clashes. Hope it helps: http://www.cointalk.com/t182620/
Sorry about the Design, but it is an open site which I created, maintain and update for no charge (for the last 3 years). I will gladly entertain any "no cost" help you will provide. Contact me at BillsCoins@att.net. Thanks, Bill P.S. The site has been "Hacked" twice in the last 2 years. The last time I had to change the "address and start over on the rebuild". If you are having trouble go to the Home Page www.ikegroup.org and click on IkeGroup Forum in the middle of the page.
The site gets a lot of traffic so the Russian "guys" are constantly registering and posting porn and adds. So we screen each person. Send our membership chairman Brian (Top of Forum), the Email, Username & password you want and I will add you to our membership. Bill
Thank you for the assistance Bill! Sorry to hear you guys are having such a hard time with hackers and the like. I can't believe how many bored jerks (wish I could say worse) exist with nothing better to do than make people miserable. I will see if I can get a message to Brian so I can finally get on that forum
