Guess The Grade: 1878 8TF Morgan

A new coin for my u.s. type set. Cant say this was a upgrade like my last U.S. purcahses cause I never owned a 8TF.

So guess the grade:hail:

63 because of cheek chatter, but a 64 would not surprise me. Don't think it went PL.

I see what appears to be a little wear in the hairline and on cotton bolls/leaves, so I'll go with a AU 55/58. But grading on photos is always tough.

No way that's a 65. I doubt it's AU either. That leaves 60-62.

ahearn got it right, its a AU58.

Hard to believe its a AU58 but in some ways I can see why.

 

ok mat shoot...as a morgan collector i see many nicks...some weakness but an au-58?? i know its only 2points from unc but still is looks at least MS to me

 

AU? Really? I see no luster breaks in the fields and little to no high-point rub. Oddness. Maybe I should stick to grading copper. lol

I think it should be a bit higher too but im not one to crack out stuff and resend. I dont like slabs but I keep them in the slab if they are already in one.
