Pick one or two of your favorite coins and imagine what stories they would have to tell, than share it. Mine is a widow's mite that could have been used by one of Jesus' followers or even Jesus himself. Seated Liberty Silver Dollar maybe used in the Wild West.
Funny you mention this. I have a few Morgans from the Redfield stash: http://lynncoins.com/redfield.htm If only they could talk.
I'll go with this one, the franc a cheval, struck in 1364. I'll let you guys look up the story. Trust me, it'll be fun

I would choose something like a Hepthalite silver coin. I would choose this since simply nothing is known about their civilization except from their enemies. We do not know their ethnicity, their language, their social structure, where they came from, their history, anything. Coins today are about the most telling stories of them. Just FYI, this group ruled Central Asia for about 200 years. The Iranian shahinshah Peroz had three wars against them and lost all three. In the second he was captured, and promised to stay behind a boundary marked by a stone tower for his freedom. For the thrid war, he actually had 50 elephants pull the stone tower towards the Hepthalites so he could claim he was not breaking this blood oath. He was subsequently killed. It was not until the rise of the Turks and the resurgence of the Sassanids combined that they were defeated. I am actively putting together a history and numismatic survey of this timeframe and location for my ancient coin club. There is very little in English published about them, so I am having a great time learning new things every day. Chris
It would be fun to hear some of the stories. Although this one probably spent most of it's time sealed inside some Greek pottery and probably wouldn't have much to talk about.
1) "Geez, they put me on a lousy penny!" 2) "If the public had known that I ordered a couple boxes of Cuban cigars before the Bay of Pigs, I probably wouldn't be on this." 3) "Buck only worth nickel. Squaw worth dollar!"(Teehee!) 4) "I wish collectors would stop calling me this. Do you know how many times I've seen a "k" inadvertently typed before the "i"? I'm no commie!" (No offense, Eugene!) 5) "If they had only had plastic surgery back in my day, I could have gotten a nose job and a face lift for this." 6) "If I smile, bison's tail hit me in mouth." 7) "My contract with Victoria's Secret was cancelled!" 8) "My barber is hard of hearing. I asked him for a shave, and I got a permanent instead." Chris
