Maybe some day. I'm not quite ready to risk that sort of price tag. Yet. Especially since I don't know a whole lot about coins that old. Perhaps when I'm better educated on the matter. I do search modern bank rolls though. Pennies, dimes, and occasionally halves when I can find them. Might start branching to nickels soon.

I've done a couple of those. Obviously not up in the $150 price range though. I did one that was about $20. Ended up with 1909 and 1865 Indian heads in a addition to some really nice wheats. More than made my money back after calculating the values.

The most money I've spent was in the $70 range for 400+ wheats with a couple silver coins in there. Did pretty well on those too. Ended up with a couple really nice roosevelts and mercs. The one was a '55-S uncirculated roosevelt. So far I guess I've made out alright with my Ebay gambles

I do cents, nickels and halves (when they're around). I like looking through nickels a lot for some reason. I picked up a dansco album for them and it's getting closer to being finished every time! ( Not to mention you can still get silver war nickels :D )

sounds like he will send you whatever he thinks you deserve for the bid price. You bid $10 he sends you maybe $6 or $7 dollars worth. You bid $50 maybe he'll send you $30 or $40. In other words he is deciding what his coins are selling for, not the bidder. That may seem fair to some but not to me.

$10-$12 is worth the gamble, I can't say the same about $50++ on a chase coin for my collection. Sometimes the best buys are when people post coins and items with some sort of value but don't really know what they have. Therefore the redundant listings. Good luck, get something nice!

I know that. But like I said, I'm still working on the collection basics. And honestly, with shipping prices the way they've been lately, I don't think I'd pay much less buying buy the piece either. On that note, why does it cost $2.00+ to ship a coin? Especially a small coin. Madness I tell you.

Well it used to be that ebay sellers only had to pay a fee on the cost of the item so the more you could charge for shipping, the less you had to pay in fees. I was looking yesterday and I think they have changed it so the seller pays a final value fee on the total buyer cost including shipping. Many people probably don't know this and they still try to save money by charging shipping costs instead of free shipping.

    ^Makes sense.

In other news, USPS says the package is in Sacramento (Northern California girl here), so it should definitely arrive tomorrow. Super excited! ^_^

For almost $12, I would not be happy with anything less than a silver quarter of some sort. Hope you get something good ... have fun !

Why didn't you file Buyer Protection claims?

I just got a full refund for three gold eagles (two Liberty and one Indian) that never showed up -- never a word from the seller, and i guess eBay never heard from them, either. I'm not out a cent, although I certainly wish I had the gold instead. (It would've worked out to about $700 a coin, which was right around melt when I made the purchase.) Just about a month total from "winning" the auction (and paying immediately) to getting the refund.

It shouldn't matter if you paid for it through paypal using your credit card or not, I don't see why you wouldn't still have buyers protection

[QUOTE/] Congratulations but I wouldn't wait by your mailbox........................
I been waiting 7 weeks for 3 silver dollars from one seller and never did receive one from someone else.
No more ebay BS for me.[/QUOTE]

But you see, that's the beauty of a tracking number. I know exactly where the package is as of about 10 hrs ago, which is about 3 hrs from my town.

Report is in, 43d merc dime, in what I'm going to call not too bad condition. 36 buffalo nickel, bout the same. 73 s cent is pretty dang good condition, couple water spots looks like. 26 wheatie, dark, worn, everything still visible, but could be better. And one 53d seller described as being "Gem BU" not 100% sure about that, but it's in phenomenal condition. Yeah probably not worth what I payed for them. But like I said, which shipping costs, it probably would have been about the same at probably $2.00+ per item.
