    Oh I'm certainly not planning on keeping all the bicentennials, just a handful, for my own novelty.

    Huh, maybe it's just my local Casinos then. But I've got to tell you, there's like 1 within a 10 minute drive of where I live, and another 6 or so within an hour's drive. They're all still rolling with the halves. Seriously, every single Blackjack table, even the single deck tables (which don't pay out Blackjacks with the standard 3:2 ratio and rarely need halves to pay out) and still they typically have at least 4 rolls at the table. I wouldn't expect Vegas and Reno to be dealing in a lot of halves, but I'd say at least take a look and see what they're dealing in, if you just so happen to go in. I did ask at the cage, but the teller didn't have any rolls in her drawer. But I suppose if I told her I wanted to be payed in halves, instead of asking if she had any, she could have gotten them out of the vault. Perhaps I'll do that next time.

    But as far as where to get unsearched rolls, I'd think a Casino would be a very good bet. They don't work that hard to check for counterfites with the amount of money they gross. All they use are those iodine pens. These days those pens don't really work, because crooks have gotten smart and use starch free paper that doesn't react.

    But like I said, if you're going to gamble anyway, doesn't hurt to check this out.

    Yes, much conflicting info from BoA. In different branches I have been told: $3 charge for loose, no charge for rolled; $5 charge for any bag of coin, rolled OR loose; no charge for customers, etc.... :mad: I was dumping at a Chase in another city yesterday - $1200+ in H's, N's and D's - and they told me no charge for loose in bags... :rollling:

    When I get back, I am going to go in person to several Chase branches, talk with the managers, and ascertain the policy about loose, bagged coin. Wrapping up the coins is not that bad, but come this fall, I could use the extra time for studying.

    Yep, sometimes The Wife's car will look very similar. Always clean it out at the end of the day; and make sure nothing is visible when I am out and about. Our recycle bin sees quite a few wrappers and boxes... heh.

    Sorter,

    Have you ever dropped off a bag of loose coins to be counted(BoA)? If so, did they charge you? I'm dropping one off on Monday, I'm going to go crazy this weekend dumping everthing I have and buying until the banks close so I can hopefully get some good results.

    I'll let you know if they end up charging or not.

    Overdue Report

    Man, the last few weeks have been crazy. This will be the last report for a few weeks; going to St. Maarten at the end of the week for The Wife's birthday, then gotta get ready to start school on 8/22. Will try to squeeze in some CRH before the semester starts, but still getting my regular, weekly delivery from my favorite bank (had to suspend the next two deliveries). Anyway, here's the report for the last several weeks (since 7/16/11):

    BWR H's: 322 rolls -> 16 x 40% H's; 3 x 90% H's
    Box 1: 4 x 40%; 1 x 1964
    Box 2: 1 x 40%
    Box 3: 2 x 40%; 1 x 1964
    Box 4: 5 x 40%; 1 x 1964
    22 loose: skunk (10 of these rolls were from my own dump :foot-mouth:)
    Box 5: 2 x 40%
    Box 6: 2 x 40%
    CWR H's: 89 rolls -> 23 x 40%; 2 x 1964; 1 x Frankie
    Loose H's: $63.50 -> skunk
    BWR D's: 200 rolls -> 3 x Roosie
    BWR N's: 40 rolls -> skunk
    BWR P's: 25 rolls -> 5 x rolls Cu P's; 3 x Wheaties

    Came across quite a few 2011 rolls - out of 4 boxes (200 rolls) of N's, I was able to pull 40 rolls that weren't BU 2011-D's, got a whole box of 2011-D D's, and got a whole box of 2011-D P's. I'm hoping that we're nearing the end of the 2011 purge...

    Still got a bunch of pics I'd like to post, including pics of the Coinalyzer set-up, but I keep getting crunched for time. I'll get them up soon! In the meantime, here's one of the craziest I've found so far:

    JFK as The Joker!

    PS: The stats in my signature are from 99 days searching; I'm going to get some pics of the entire stash up when I get back.

    I have not tried the loose bag at BoA, as I figured I'd get charged. Every BoA I dump at, no matter the amount, puts it all in bags even though it's rolled. The folks at Chase seem to be friendlier, but I've been getting my H boxes from them, so I like to cross dump at BoA. I'm going to look into getting H boxes from a BoA in the next town, as they have been very generous with boxes of N's, D's and P's, but it's the same bank where I saw the joneser looking through H's (some of my dumps from the early days, heh). I don't dump there anymore, so I'll have to see if they will order me H's.

    Yes, please let me know how that works out. If they charge you, I'm sure they'll waive the fee if you complain, since it's the first time. I just don't like the inconsistency in policy from branch to branch. :confused:

    I've been loving the hunt, but I need a break to reorganize, and really start keeping notes on where I can pick up, and where and when I can dump at various branches.

    Well, I don't really have much in the way of roll searching paraphinelia in my car, but it's usually loaded to the brim with cardboard. Most people who see my car probably think I'm off my rocker or have something to do with hobos or something like that. But the truth is much more boring. I keep all the cardboard from the shop I work at and recycle it lol.

    Hit up quite a few banks in search of coins today.
    Heres what I got:
    2 rolls of unc 2011 pennies (p)
    4 rolls of circulated dollar coins
    9 rolls of 2010 sac dollars(p or d)
    2 Harrison rolls
    3 J Q Adams rolls
    1 Buchanan
    1 Pierce
    1 Jackson
    1 washington
    and 3 Grants

    I found, and Im keeping 5 susan b's from the circulated dollars. The others Im dumping.
    Only on my second roll of Grant dollars and found 1 nice wheelmark, finger feeder mark error so far.
    I usually have outstanding luck searching dollar coins, so I want to keep you posted on all my keepers from this batch.
    I doubt Ill find anything from mama sacagawea, shes always a toughie.
    Im betting I will find an error worthy of 3rd party grading...Lets see!
    I will be mostly looking for errors, but will keep any I think are ms67 or better also. Except for Grant because I already have like 5 rolls of gems already.
    Ill post the results soon.

    Another $60 in halves, nothing. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the BWR's of nickels, about $28 worth.

    Moonshine ....................

    I found 2 mercs (1923 and 1942) today in BWRs. 1 40%er in a box of halves.

    Stopped in at Stacks Coins in NYC for the first time. Very professional-type store. Maybe 40 ft of glass counter space and that was it. Didn't get a chance to talk to anyone as one dealer was sitting with a woman and the other was on a phone call. I overheard a bit of the conversation with the woman and he said the halves she had were worth about $15 each. She had a bag full of probably $100 face worth. He dumped them out and I saw Franklins and Walkers mixed in with Kennedys. I was drooling!

    Stopped at a local buy bank to get some coins for tonight and talked to the head teller about buying bags of halves from the coin counter. She ok'ed it with her manager. She said it takes awhile for the halves bag to fill up so that's a good sign. There is another branch on the other side of town so I plan on stopping in this weekend and hopefully setting up the same arrangement.

    Found a trick\magician's 2006d nickel with 2 obverse sides.

    I missed a 1924 Peace dollar on ebay for $10 buy it now also today.

    Stacks is a nice coin store, been in there a few times.

    Didn't get to pick up today, cashed in a bag of change and it was about $15 short of the $500 I needed to buy a box of halves waiting for me... I'll grab it tomorrow along with a box of dimes after cashing in the remainder of my loose change.

    Also cleaned out my car tonight, partially due to the conversation here about it, haha. Found $70 in ikes I hadn't bothered to take inside. That gives me $390 in ikes laying around.

    Well today I saw a pretty unique sight. An elderly gentleman came into the store today, looking for a heat gun. He was wearing a plain black hat with a chrome-looking medalion on it. At first I paid no mind, thinking it was one of the hats that retired Army/Navy etc wear. Well, when the time came to ring the man up, I glanced again at his hat, and planned on asking him how long he had served...well then I noticed what the medalion on his hat was: the reverse of a Liberty Walking half-dollar! It was polished, so it looked almost chrome but upon closer inspection you could see definate petina (sp?) and it was thick too, like the size of a normal half, so this was definately once a regular ol' Walker!

    I asked him about it, and he said he is friends with some hot-shot coin collector down in Santa Monica...can't remember the name...and that guy made it for him. I wonder how he did it? Maybe silver-soldered the coin to a pin he had sewn into the that? Anyways, since I only have one Walker, I cherish it greatly....but maybe once I get the point where I have a couple hundred I'll do the same thing! Very cool.

    Oh, and skunked at $3.50 loose halves. The wife Judy Jetson'd me (think back to the intro to The Jetson's, you'll get it.) so I was unable to snag those $75 in rolled Ikes. Gonna have to wait till next week. Major bummer.

    In the bank today for an actual banking transaction. Asked all the tellers, who were standing behind glass doing nothing (all four of them) if they had any halves. They didn't have any rolls, but one teller had five halves and one other had three. I swapped my four paper dollars for their halves. ONE was a 68-D. That's more silver than I found in the last two entire boxes :smile
