    Found first Walking Liberty!

Picked up a box of halves today, found 1 40%er about half way thru. Then stumbled upon my first Walker! Thought it was some kind of foreign coin at first when I saw the edge in the roll, as it didn't really look very silver-like from other silver halves I found, that or maybe I just haven't seen a 90%er in a roll in awhile, lol.

Anyway just thought I'd post. This was my 46th box and this was my first Walker.

Ignore the 40%, I just thru it in there, and as you can see i was so excited about my first Walker, I put the Kennedy in upside-down...haha.

    HH all,

    Chester

Very cool. Still waiting on my first Walker. Only 1 Franklin so far too. Boxes these last few weeks have been terrible. I might do a road trip and try to find some CWR.

I've seen other people saving S mintmark cents from the 60s/70s. Is there any particular reason for this, if they're not BUs? I mean, they're not uncommon. Why save these (unless you're saving all coppers)?

Went through one roll of halves today, and found 1 90% 64 Kennedy. Not bad if I do say so myself ^_^. Plus I found two 2001 halves in nearly uncirculated condition, and a handful of those bicentennial coins....not that they're worth anything, but collecting isn't just about what the coin is worth in dollars eh?

Oh, and you all may be interested to know, that I've found another place to pick up half dollar rolls. Black Jack tables at local Indian Gaming Casinos. Now I'm not suggesting that you should go play Blackjack just to pick up halves, far from it. But if it's something you already indulge in once in a while (as I do), it doesn't hurt to ask. My local casino was happy to part with one roll. Sure it's not a box, but better than nothing. Especially when my bank never has any, and won't order them -_-.

Yeah and not to mention the amount of loose & partial boxes I've searched as well. I figured I was well overdue. So nice to get that out of the way. I plan on keeping all Frankies and earlier and selling the rest.

Well, with the bicentennials, if you save them all, you'll end up saving a ton of coins. It's probably the most common year you'll see in boxes.

Also, regarding the casino, I would think that asking at the cage may be better than asking at the table. I know some casinos still use 2 dollar chips and a half to pay out blackjack on amounts ending in 5 ($25, for example), but most casinos have gone to using $2.50 chips. And most casinos use slips instead of coins in the machines. But, I would still think that people may be bringing in halves to exchange for cash, so hitting up the cage for halves is probably an ok idea.

I like those numbers since half the box was 2011. 2 Roosie for about $125 searched is good stuff!

Got denied from a bank today because I'm not a customer. I guess I might have to get an account there since they are a good pick-up bank for me, or they were a good p/u bank.

Picked up a box of dimes (BoA) and went thru $200 quick - 1 X Roosie
I asked about coin counters, they said no too much $$ to maintain
Put your coins in this plastic bag and we will count and deposit for you - no charge
such conflicting information on if they charge or not
I think I'm going to give it a try and see if they charge and they argue if they do
since they told me no charge

Had to make a deposit for my company and picked up a box of dimes while I was there
Hopefully get a chance to go thru them later tonight

Does anyone's car look like mine?????

I have empty boxes from dimes in the back
I have at least 50 empty dime wrappers on the floor on the passenger side all crumpled up from blowing thru them on my lunch break
I have a box with $50 in dimes I did not get a chance to go thru on the passenger seat
I have an unopened box sitting on the floor stuffed under the seat to go thru later
I have a couple hundred rolls for dimes in case I have to roll and dump them because no coin counter
My cup holder is full of foreign coins and skunk halves, and there is one SILVER Roosie in the tray under the ebrake

Yup, I think I might be addidcted

You should see my garbage pail at work at the end of the day. I can imagine what the cleaning person thinks.

Also, be careful with all of that money-related stuff out in the open in your car. May be inviting someone to break in.

My car is right outside the window so I can always see it and I always clean it out when I get home. I'm very careful with it for just that reason...I just got a little crazy trying to eat lunch, buy boxes, and search one in 30 minutes. I look down and realized what I had done. Oh, and I forgot the canvas bag with $199.90 in clad dimes stuffed under the drivers seat.

Yes, what do the cleaning people think?
