You can print out forms from either the PCGS or NGC website, fill them out, and wait around 14+ days depending on what option you choose. It costs around $14 minimum depending what value coin you have plus shipping. It is pretty simple. Hope this helps!
Hmmm doesn't seem like it's worth the money if the coin is just about that much... I have 3 very nice walking liberty half dollars though
Haha yeah, I love it when people post those. It's funny. As far as getting a few common Walkers slabbed, I wouldn't. It's kind of a waste of money. You should be able to buy some slabbed ones for fairly cheap if you'd like to go that route. Also, somebody needs to help me with this. If you sign up for some membership, ANA I think, you can get a few free submissions at (I think) NGC. Again, somebody help with that info, I think I may be off.
No! The gift certificate for 5 free submissions comes with a paid Collectors Society Membership. If you are a paid ANA member, you simply get submission privileges......... The easiest way to grade your coins is to mail them to myself, a complete stranger on the internet. I will grade your coins for free, however, I only grade coins with an estimated value of $200 or more.
In fact if you only want a few coins graded it is usually cheapest to have a trusted agent ( Dealer or Friend that is a member) submit them for you. If you think your going to get more than twenty coins per year graded then get a membership at the service of your choice and submit them yourself.
+1 The only difference is that you save money on shipping postage/insurance and shipping materials TO the grading company. You don't even save time, because your coins don't get to the graders until the representatives that were at the show hand deliver them. -LTB
Don't forget you have to have a membership to submit coins directly to the TPG. Otherwise, you work through a dealer who does and may charge you a little more for submitting on their membership.
$25 seems kind of high. What types of coins does he usually submit for you? Do you know what tier he uses? Chris
Adding postage and insurance it costs me about $17.00 to submit even a modern coin which is the lowest cost tier at PCGS. A dealer that is taking the time and doing it for you at $25.00 is a bargain most are going to be higher.
