Hello everyone I made a post in the error section in this forum , I have a 180 degree rotated die 1999 Delaware quarter . I am listing it on ebay tonight , it weighs 6 grams on my sunbeam postal scales cheapies, lol, it has a ring when you drop it on the table . I wanted to know what you thought I should start it at , oh im also stating in the add if its not what I say it is that I will refund there money less shipping cost. In the forums I've been in it seems people are ripping people off selling fake coins . I am not sending it to be graded because I dont know if I will make enough off it to even pay for the grading so what do you think I should list it for? There is a pic at the error section on this forum and Im going to work on getting a better one today as well .Thanks for your input and time . As you may or may not know, a modern rotated coin is quite rare. I would suggest that the least amount of handling be applied to the coin to prevent wear. Place it in a coin sleeve or 2x2. As for placing it on eBay, I would suggest that you ask a local dealers opinoin of the value of the coin to better guage the value and potential value you have for that coin. It's quite an interesting piece and I have nver seen one like that before. Good idea with the pic to hold it up to a mirror.
I recommend sending it to aTPG for authentication/grading. It is quite rare and will bring a way better price if slabbed.
Send it off for grading---if it is real then it is well worth the extra cost....I think you said you got it in change....so you will have about $25.25 in the coin----a coin like this could bring a few hundred if I'm not wrong. Speedy
I'd guess it's a slider unc and you'll get about $300 for it. Unless it's high grade it probably won't bring any more in a slab.
I totaly disagree----try to make someone believe that a coin in rotated just by photos----anyone can make a coin look rotated in a photo. If its in a slab you can show the lable on the slab and that would make it easyer on the person buying to know 100% sure what they are getting Speedy
I have one too... I have one that is 180 degrees rotated as well. I own a laundromat and found it in with the quarters there. I took it to a coin shop in Cape Girardeau and although it has discoloration on it, The owner called Fred Weinberg and Fred told the guy in the shop that he would give me $100 for it, sight unseen. I had talked to Fred on the phone prior to that, but without me sending it to be graded he would not venture a guess as to the value of it. May I ask what you got for yours? Dove
Nitedove, this thread is over 5 years old. You will have a better chance of getting useful information about your coin if you start your own thread.
LOL. Blast from the past. Well heck nitedove. Fred Weinberg's gonna give ya one hundred smackers sight unseen.
Lol.... I was hoping the person who had put theirs on eBay would still be around and could tell me what they had gotten or found out. I figure if Weinberg was gonna give me 100 dollars site unseen, it probably was worth quite a bit more . The owner of the shop I was in described it to him and told him it was indeed 180 degrees rotated and he offered the hundred then. If I don't get a reply in a few days, I will start a new thread. Thanks !
Go ahead and start your thread now. I don't think the original poster is coming back. She has not signed in to CoinTalk since the day after starting this thread - June 14, 2006.
Ha ha. Mine aren't as good as that one but I have a whole bunch of them that are anywhere from 350 to 359 degrees!
