These aren't mine. I just got to babysit them a few days and take some pictures for a dealer-friend.

They are all PCGS-graded AU. There are two 50's, and one 53, 55, and 58. (Feel free to guess and I'll give the answers later.)

Do you like them? Which would you most like to have?

I'm sure they'll go for a pretty penny at the upcoming Chicago show. I can't afford any. I have but one...a 1799, but I won't show it alongside these! LOL.
    Lance.

  5. I would take the last 1802 any day over the others. Just my preference.

They're all beauties Lance, but I'm just as interested in seeing your "real" 1799 than pictures of these pedigrees. Any Bust Dollar is a treasure to me regardless of grade. Please post yours for us.

Twist my arm, will ya, Bruce? Okay...it's a modest VF30.

Log Potato, I agree with you! That second 1802 is remarkable.

I guess the dealer is lucky to have them for sale. The owner was less lucky, having died too young, earlier this year.

These coins and 45 more are being auctioned by Sheridan Downey at the upcoming Chicago ANA show. They are part of the Roger Solomon collection. Another 100 or so of his coins are for sale by Sheridan at his table (not part of the "selected rarities" auction).

Through dumb luck I was able to see them and shoot the auction coins. Many were so impressive I nearly cried.

Thanks for posting the picture of your 1799 Lance. Like I said earlier, just as beautiful as the rest.

I love these just because they're there. :)

Like the OP, my only early dollar is a 1799 in VF, but not quite as nice (VF20 old PCGS holder). Still, I bought it right before it tripled in value, and it's quite an attractive coin for the grade.

One of my collecting goals is to complete a type set of draped bust/heraldic eagle type coins in VF. So far, I have three of them. The dime and half dime are a little too expensive... :(

Mark, you were the only one brave enough to wager guesses. I know I would be lost at this.

They are, oddly enough, in grade order by date.

    1795 3-Leaves Flowing Hair PCGS AU 50 (R1) value $18k+
1798 Sm. Eagle, 13 stars Draped Bust PCGS AU50 OGH (R1) value $23k+
    1799/8 15 Stars Reverse PCGS AU53 (R2) value $8k+
    1802/1 Close Dates NGC AU55 (R4) value $14k+
    1802 Wide Normal Date NGC AU58 (R5+) value $12k+

I think the valuations above (from the cataloguer) are conservative, so as to encourage bidding.

Interesting that the collection, some 100-200 coins, is 98% PCGS. The owner didn't appear to care, for example, that his 1807 CBH, graded MS61 by NGC, would drop three points for PCGS plastic.

I wonder why only a few coins were in NGC plastic? I think he just hadn't gotten around to crossing them before passing away unexpectedly.

P.S. My first post said they were all PCGS. Sorry. I was wrong.
