This afternoon's eBay fee-evasion tactic...

Now that eBay has closed the exorbitant-shipping fee-evasion loophole, people are starting to look for new ones.

Yeah, I'm sure eBay will be perfectly​ happy with this approach. And so will anybody who tries to use Buyer Protection, only to have eBay promptly and cheerfully refund their 99 cents.

How can he justify sending an invoice for more than $0.99? He includes free shipping. If I were to by that now, and sent him $1, how on earth could he change it? Ebay sends an invoice, and that would show $1. Am I wrong here? I am tempted to try it...the guy has never sold a coin, and with a feedback of 10.....he's going to take a beating. If I'm wrong, someone advise me....you can't just add $374.01 to shipping.

 

he won't change it. my understanding is that he will send an additional invoice to the email.

 

What if it was paid immediately following the item ending? Does the seller really have a leg to stand on adding THAT much extra $ to an already paid invoice?

 

Looks like someone already called his bluff! The relisting has already ended...and it wasn't me!

 

Looks like a bad Chinese fake to me... and worth every bit of $0.99; anyway... I agree with numismania; what the 'seller' (if I can call him that) is doing is considered a no-no.

 

Looks like over 3K on this "shipping invoice". Man, this guy has scam written all over him.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but a seperate Paypal invoice can be ignored, so long as the official ebay invoice, for 99 cents, free shipping, is paid for. Thats my take on it...I can send ANYONE an invoice...NOONE has to pay it, and there is no recourse on not payin that Paypal generated invoice. Seller is really grasping here, and WILL get a neg for selling the coin at 99 cents...the Paypal invoice will NOT get paid, coin will NOT get shipped, and he WILL receive a neg.

 

He's doing it for ALL his listings, including his energy drinks!!!! There's NO way ebay would back him up, after the original 99 cents was paid. The additional invoice has NOTHING to do with ebay...it's between 2 parties, without any ebay involvement, even if he DOES include all the item info.

I keep reading his items, and one thing sticks out...how on earth could the lower fees help the BUYER get a better deal, when he's charging, with the extra invoice, the same as he would if he were honest? Like jeffB states...IF you wanted a refund (and there is NO such thing as a 'no return' policy, even if one is stated), all you'd get is 99 cents back, less PP fees...lol I might just go for the UHR to see what happens. I am certain there is no way of ebay interfering once the 99 cents is paid.

 

Those small gold coins are some the most faked coins around. Might be gold but who knows. But at 99¢ each might be worth the fun.

The easiest and best loophole to avoid the feebay is to list as buy it now or best offer. When someone makes you a decent offer just say you can accept, but away from feebay. I ask for a paypal gift usually.
I cant rat this guy out to ebay because as a fellow seller, I feel his pain.
Most people dont know about the policy change and still inflate shipping.
