Funny thing happened the other day. I discovered that a well known CBH expert, Sheridan Downey, is a neighbor. So I called to ask if I could see the Roger Solomon collection he's auctioning at the Chicago ANA and he invited me to his home to see it all.

No surprise, the coins were stunning. And stunningly expensive. So I asked if I could help with imaging and maybe earn a little credit. I showed him some photos of my set. It worked out great!

Here's one I was able to acquire. If anyone wants to see photos of any of the Solomon set being auctioned, PM me. You can read more about this at http://sheridanscoins.com.

Yeah, old green holder... that's all I'll buy for Merc dimes. Dunno why. Just prefer them, I guess?

Not a particularly attractive coin, but I like branch mint coins from the antebellum era for some reason

Hmmm! I would think that would grade better than '64! I think 67 maybe! ;)

I agree. It looks like a mirror with Lady Liberty and an eagle etched in.

Horrible picture. I think it would sticker at CAC easily, might even be a 67. Gorgeous coin, fantastic luster.

I found this coin in a dealers three ring binder at a local show. He said 10 bucks and I said OK. Oh well, it's probably a 2 dollar coin, but I have a hard time chewing a guy down on a low dollar coin. I liked the unusual toning and thought it would spice up my coin cabinet for a bargain. I just thought you toning heads would like it too. More to come .....M

That's cool, coppermania. I like it.

Don't feel awkward paying more than "book" for an eye appealing coin. That's the way it works and should.

I guess you could pay average for an average looking coin, but why?
