    And here it is:

First one I've found - that I've actually noticed.
Details are quite mushy, and the script on the edge is incorrect.

Its the same coin here as #12: http://blog.alism.com/fake-one-pound-coins-part-three/

    Just thought I'd share. :)
I've been here nearly 11 months and haven't seen one until just now.

That's pretty bad. It's amazing that so many people don't notice anything unusual when they receive a coin like this in change.

    Thanks for posting your coin.

That's really a poor counterfeit Magman. My 98 year old Grandma could pick that one out of a lineup. :D

    Hah, thanks guys.

I didn't notice it right away because there are coins - usually from the early 80's - that are very worn, to the point of the details being flattened. This only stuck out because it looked too mushy to be wear. Then I saw the edge inscription was also not very sharp; and ultimately wrong.

huh, haven't seen one of those either. Kind of cool find, I would keep it just for that.

I never would have even thought that such new coins would be counterfeited, so I'm glad you brought this to my attention. I recently purchased my first two pound coins on eBay and I had no notion that I needed to be looking for things like this.

Counterfeiting of one pound coins is rampant in England.

beleive me there are far worse examples of the counterfeit £1 coins, i have around 40 of them now and some are really good but one in particular is extremely poor.........

Yes - around 1 in 36 £1 coins are fake ... most are 'dated' 1983 - 1988, but there are some newer ones (like yours) that are dated later.

I did, however, have a chuckle at your example as it truly is abysmal!
