I know some folks like these, and some think I'm crazy for buying them.
I believe in collect what you like....and not to worry about what others think.
So all comments are welcome either negative or positive 010a.jpg 012a.jpg

I personally like these tokens and I think the are neat. I would add a couple to my collection if they weren't so expensive. That said, I don't like the fact that ANACS is slabbing them. To me, these are novelty/fantasy tokens and a coin grading company shouldn't be grading them. IMHO, it takes away some legitimacy from ANACS (and they don't have much to begin with).

I love that 75 Ike!!! Didn't even know those existed! I have seen Carr's state quarters which are funny as heck! Unfortunately he is always sold out? Might have to poke my head in his shop and talk machinist spew.
I recall a story about some dip showing off a common date peace dollar and Dan whipped out his '64 and guy didn't blink an eye? Obviously a newb.
Love his Florida state quarter or on his coin "the hanging chad" state LOL
New Jersey with a toll both on the reverse LOL

BTW: I know there was no Ike with 1975. All though the Type 1 '76 is actually minted is '75. Love to have that 75 is my Dansco. Hello EBay here come!

Wouldn't doubt that Dan Carr worked with ANACS, since they are both located in the Denver area.
Dan stuff is usually pressed on top of the real deal but he also sales original coins that are insane. I call most of his stuff art. But yes his quarters are a little bit in the novelty.
It's a thousand time better than CoinVault/NGC first strike garbage.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Camaro. ANACS dropped a level, in my book, for certifying these coins. I really enjoy the 1964 Peace with PL characterists, and would without-a-doubt purchase one if the price they are currently selling for were to be cut in half, which may happen, or it may not. The market for these is totally unpredictable. I don't believe anyone should be bashing you, dwhiz, for collecting these "fantasy tokens". I find them just as interesting as you do.

What I liked about ANACS they do call them a token right on the slab.

I think Dan makes some really neat pieces, I see it as coin art. I like your tokens!

The great thing about the ANACS slabs is that if you don't like them, all you have to do is twist it in your hands to crack it out........no hammer, hacksaw or bandsaw necessary!

I know there are a few CT members who dislike DC's stuff... personally, I think it's great. From an artistic and engineering standpoint, there are none better.

There is no question that Daniel Carr is loaded with talent. I just think that he is channeling his efforts in the wrong direction. I'd much rather see him devote his energy to producing, say, original designs of commemorative medals for the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle missions. Or, how about producing original designs on commemorative medals for the Revolutionary War, Civil War or World War II.

    The possibilities are endless.

I will give them that...but I still don't like it.

But, don't get me wrong. I love these tokens and if they ever drop in price (like by half) in the secondary market I'll pick some up.

The IKE's have been graded as Tokens and not Coins which is perfectly fine as far as I and other folks might be concerned.

As for ANACS, they are a good grading company that will attribute pretty much any variety you have without it having to be in the Cherry Pickers Guide. The other TPG's havee just as many "under Graded", "over-Graded", "incorrectly attributed" and just "flat out" wrong coins! It's up to the submitter and ultimately the buyer to determine their level of satisfaction with the coins.

    Consider these two:

Surprised at this - as far as I know all the tpg's grade some type of tokens. Are you all including some kind of restrictions on which type of tokens should not be graded?

Interesting tokens - never really paid attention.
