I'm hoping to find some with halves...last time I don't think I had many, and only 1 silver if anything...going to start the phone calls again...

heck...i could even just go dump my pennies at Doylestown TD one of the two, walk to all the other banks in Doylestown, walk back to TD to dump what ever I don't want, and keep at it for the whole day haha...there are plenty of banks there...

I find phone calls to be inefficient... they don't seem to look very hard when you call as opposed to when you walk in.

    Nice finds, Merc & Erin.

2 boxes of dimes, 1 roosie, 1 1916 Merc (it is an S mint :-(

    My "stash"? Compacted into this:

Plus some Swiss gold & silver, and my roosie set that I am working on. Also the bimetallic Library of Congress proof.

I don't believe in holding onto what you find, the joy is in obtaining the collection that you would like to have.

Glad the new job is treating you good. I remember the days of living check to check and it isn't fun. Be smart and squirrel it away. Having a nest egg really brings a sense of peace.

That is awesome that you found that so close to home. Truthfully, the closer I get to Philly the tougher it seems to be sometimes. There is a big time searcher in the Exton area and I'm pretty certain I've picked up tons of his dumps. Always the brown wrappers with black writing. I think I may head west one of these days down rt. 30 towards Lancaster.

Harrisburg has a few searchers that post on tnet. Lancaster, I found a roll of 40%ers out there about 9-10 months ago. Might be worth the hike.

Correct. Phone calls are not the way to go most of the time. The banks seem to ee them as annoying in my opinion for the most part. I have also had my wife call a few banks to be told no halves and then I have gone in 30 minutes later and found halves. On the flip to test it , I have dumped half rolls in the morning and had her call after lunch only to be told we never get any or we got some but we have to ship them out.

Love the pic Merc. VERY nice. As to your request, are you trying to supplement your coin money by working for the government? hehe

I'm always happy to strike silver, but the 1947 Roosie I found today makes me a little sad. Hate to see any coin in this shape:

This also occurs teller-to-teller too. You ask a teller for halves and get the "we never get any answer" but 2 days before you got some from another teller. If I am at a bank where I have an account, I ask the teller for whatever I am looking for then follow it up with "do you think any of the other tellers do?" Most of the time they will ask the others but sometimes they say "no" and depending on my mood I either walk away or hit them with "so you know what's in each of the other teller's drawers?"

I got an extra $40 that was stuck in the reject tube today at the bank while dumping coins. I took $7 from my pocket and picked up an uncirc 2011 ASE at the coin shop around the corner.

    Taylor,

It's good advise...read the whole thread, you'll have a blast. I have read every page on this thread over about a two-three month period. Some amazing finds along the way and countless small and large pieces of information that will help you maximize your results and not get people upset (dumping at banks). I learned so much from reading and did not have to ask questions because I already had read the answer back on page 303 or something.

Nice, Moonshine! I have actually found halves from calling...I'll call and ask for halves and ikes, and usually the financial people answer and they go ask the tellers for me while I'm on hold. Saves on gas and time.
