Oh, I see now. Your certainly right. I wish I had seen this data earlier. I'm with you guys, starting today I'm going to ridicule any and everyone that makes such repulsive statements. On the other hand, I wonder if the mature thing would be to simply ignore rather than ridicule?

Resurrecting an old thread, I looked to see if anything had come of the original article posted about the possibility of R.Reagan on a fifty. Seemed interesting. Nothing yet, really, but thought you might like to know the several proposals thus far are "dead", but for this one, '

    H.R. 497:
Ronald Reagan Commemorative Coin Act of 2011
One can google that to read about it, proposing RR on coinage. Looks to be 2017, if it were to happen; two different denominations, one being gold.

The proposal has not made it very far yet, but maybe it will.

    For enquiring minds!

They should do it. I'm tired when all the Democrats oppose the idea of putting a Republican on national currency. Good thing Republicans have control! Haters gunna hate so bring it on

The debate should be more along the lines of who is worthy to be placed on a note. Is Reagan more so than Grant? Most of the time, the argument is that time will tell. I just don't think enough time has past for the debate to be looked at with unbiased eyes on either side of the aisle.

Ummm...Grant was a Republican, he's currently on the $50 (not to mention so was Lincoln on the $5).

As for changing the the person on the bill...I don't see it happening. I would imagine Congress will have a really hard time removing a President from any of our currency...that's why none of our coin designs (other than the $1) have changed for years.

    Give me Lady Liberty.

You can keep your monarchs and Ceasar OFF my coinage and fiat currency.

After 25 years on a coin, the US Mint can do what it wants. No need to ask Congress for anything. Unless Congress explicitly tells the Mint who to put on what, after 25 years the Mint can change the face of the coin.

I think it's about time that we change all of currency: dollars and bills. Back before I was born, we would change our coin designs every 20 to 50 years and now we've had these coins for 50+ years. I think it's time for the Treasury to hold a competition for new designs.

I know that and im not saying that they opposed when Lincoln was on it and im not saying that when ever a Republican is a candidate to be put on money, all the Dem's shoot it down because they oppose their ways. and also im talking about todays democrats, Grant's been on the $50 for a VERY long time. But on the small note since 1928 and same with Lincoln

+1. The only thing that worries me with changing the designs is what they will be changed to. The recent submissions for coinage all lack the bravado the older series had.

I personally don't think party lines have anything to do with it. I just think that once a President has been put on a coin or a note...they were put there for a reason and it would be hard to convince enough people to remove them.

That said, I would prefer more symbolic coins and currency. I would love to see the Flying Eagle on the cent and such...but it's not going to happen.

But in all seriousness, I think we should keep the paper money the same, except maybe different designs, just keep the same people. If anything should be changed we should change all our coins designs back to how they were in 1900.

Not necessarally the exact same, but the same artistic type designs.
