hey guys i recently purchased 15 1909 vdb cents on ebay for a mere 17$ a piece i tried to pick the one i thought was the best and picked one that the was actually missing the vdb that the seller didn't mean to be in there. I really wanted to know grade and values so input is appreciated. here are the pics 1909 vdb Obverse: http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx131/jon4485/CIMG2610.jpg 1909 vdb Reverse: http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx131/jon4485/CIMG2611.jpg 1909-P Obverse: http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx131/jon4485/CIMG2615.jpg 1909-P Reverse: http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx131/jon4485/CIMG2617.jpg i'm hoping my pictures are good enough to determine grade if not i may try again.
The VDB I would make out to be 64RB. Uncertified, that should be about $30. The plain looks to be a nice 64 red or maybe better. That might make $40 - $60.
i got all 15 coins at 17$ a piece Thanks rlm's cents i was wondering if the 1909-P no vdb would be worth more
i'm sure those numbers are right but i think you see alot more 1909 vdbs in ms condition than the 1909-P no vdb . On ebay i only see a handful of 1909-P 's in ms grades while there are tons of ms 1909 vdb's for sale. I'm guessing less people cared about the 1909-P no vdb because there were so many and less got kept in mint state condition. correct me if i may be wrong but it's just a thought
here's a pic of the coins with natural light ... still RB? 1909 vdb obverse: http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx131/jon4485/CIMG2624.jpg 1909 vdb reverse: http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx131/jon4485/CIMG2625.jpg
Color like that is the hardest thing to determine from a picture particularly a picture that you are not familiar with taker's color techniques. That is the main reason I do not put color in the "guess the grade" surveys. That being said, yes, it still looks RB but you have the coin in had.
I'd also say RB and add a possible (if in hand) 65 in both. Pretty hard to grade a picture, even if it is a high quality picture. Overall nice coins to own. :smile
The VDB's are generally easier to find in MS is because they were widely hoarded. The posted coins look like MS-63/64, $47-$114 in full red, depending on grade. From your second picture, they look to be RB which reduces the value. The no VDB is worth less, you kinda got ripped on that coin since the seller tossed it into a "VDB" roll, but at least it's a nice looking 09 so at $17 you're OK. Basically you paid less than MS60 CDN prices so I'd say you did alright as long as all the coins are MS.
well i guess we will see how much this 09 no vdb is worth since i'll probably put it up for auction the seller did send me an extra 09 vdb once i told them there was a regular 09 in the bunch. The coin they sent me though was slabbed by some knock off company and graded ms 68 LOL. I would say its an au or pretty low bu at best XD Any ways most of the coins the person sent me were pretty nice only 1 i found was cleaned but the others make up for it
