I have a very rare collection titled "The John F. kennedy Commemoritive Collection" it has 20 some pages of jfk half dollars as well as a Gold Covered coin (each different as well as uncirculated) and has several stamps per page that is also mint with a descrition of each coin/JFK date. It comes in a wood box stamped with the collection name above. What is it? I am VERY good at finding items on eBay as well as the web and found 1 gold coin on eBay with a bad description that sold for $23. I have 20some pages of these with WAY more than just the coin. Any help would be good. Its by Calhoun's Collectors Society. Thanks!

Howdy Luke - Welcome to the Forum !

These sets like you describe were issued by private companies more as momentos than anything else. They have no real value to speak of.

There is value in the kennedy halves and you said you saw one of the gold coins go for 23.00.

A gold plated or colored coin is ruined for numismatic value.
It may have some novelty value, but definately still has face value.
Any stamps produced since JFK was an adult generally sell for pennies used.
Unused stamps of the era will sell for a bit below 'face' value.
Your biggest value will be in HIGH GRADE uncirculated JFK halves.
Low grade uncirculated coins, or circulated will generally have face value,
except the years containing at least some silver (64-70), which will have melt value.

Just an FYI, any Kennedy half dollar that is gold, would be gold plated and not made of real gold such as the American Gold Eagle or Buffalo would be.

Only value would be face on this set the OP speaks of. Numismatic value=$0.00.

The "gold" item looks like a medal that was made for this collection.

Gold plated. Not solid gold. The U.S. Mint did not strike Kennedy half dollars in gold. Silver and clad.

As it has been said, this post is 3 years old. Why are we even responding to it? Doesn't anyone check the date before they post their responses? At this time, this information is of absolute NO VALUE to the original poster.

I agree. However, I am not responding to the original poster, I am responding to a newbie who reincarnated this thread 2 days ago. Perhaps read thoroughly before you jump down people's throats.
