I read, with great interest, the article on Hobo in this months Numismatist. The one point in the article that struck me the most was that he purchased an ANA life membership for his nephew. Ever the educator and mentor. Congratulations....
Thanks, guys. Just to clarify, they did not write a special article about me. The Numismatist features a different ANA member each month in Numismatist In Action. It happened to be me this month. (No, I didn't ask to be featured. The editor e-mailed me a couple of months ago asking if I would do it and I agreed. I thought it would be fun. And what an honor, too.) So now you know what I look like. I'm not especially photogenic. They pulled that photo out of their files. I think the roving photographer took it last year at Summer Seminar. I'm not at liberty so elaborate now but another cool thing will appear in the May issue of The Numismatist. Stay tuned.
Congradulations, well deserving to a member at Coin Talk that is knowledgeable and always courteous to others. I always enjoy reading what you post.
and you felt compelled to post in it and bring it back because???? It's cool that you've discovered older posts that are interesting, but when a 6 month old thread gets bumped just so someone can say that they found it, it clutters the list of newer posts and dilutes the current information being shared on the forum.
Try 2 year and 6 months. And there is nothing wrong with saying congrats to hobo at any point in time. Some threads are always worth re-visiting.
I agree, I did not know about the article and will go search for it. Met Hobo at summer seminar and would be nice to see the article and read about how he came into the hobby etc.
