Ouch man, wish I had seen that auction. Poor guy. I also want to know what to do with my NIFCs. I thought about ebaying them, but setting a starting big to where I won't lose money like that fella. Coin shops don't want em. Guess maybe it'd just be worth saving a roll of each, I don't know. It'd take me a while to do that, as I'm only at 71 total NIFC currently.

Picked up $50 in nickels from the bank, $40 BWR and $10 CWR, Got more war nickels than foreign coins! 2 war nickels (both 45p I think) and one canadian :)

I have about 5 NIFC for each year of the halves. If I find another one in a roll, I replace it with my worst one of the five if it is in better condition. It's a good way to keep the NIFCs but not have them get out of control.

Yeah, I kinda feel bad for the guy, but also wouldn't mind buying $$ below FV... heh.

I've got complete rolls of 2002 P&D and about 60 more NIFC H's; don't have any 2008's though. I think I will keep the best specimen of each year and mint mark, unload the rest, and maybe update them with better specimens if they come along. That way, I'll only have $10 out of circulation (including 2011's when I find them). I'm not a collector - except for PM's - but the NIFC's might pull in a premium down the road.

Just reported a teller to management about him pulling change out of the TD Bank coin counter reject tray and putting it in his pocket while I was halfway through dumping some change. He is in some deep ish, his manager seemed very mad. All for a silver quarter ('63) and a '43 merc dime that I ended up getting... Idiot.

Wow...never saw them put rejects in their pocket. Bad move.

I flat out told the manager that if something isn't done, I will escalate it to the district manager and I know they'll do something regardless of how long the teller has been there, which I believe is a few years now. Hate to do it to a fellow coin collector, but hey, a thief is a thief.

Somewhat similar story...a guy I work with sometimes goes thru halves and was dumping coins at TD and an Ike was stuck in the machine. The female teller took the Ike and was insisting that SHE bring the Ike up to the counter to exchange it...basically she wanted it for herself. OK maybe not similar but still funny.

i get some penny rolls from my bank every now and then, yesterday i found a 1924-d wheat cent(only 2.5 million minted) in very good to fine condition! considered a "semi-key" date worth about $25-$40.00! don't get discouraged, i almost did before finding this penny. keep looking you never know what's in that next coin roll!

Nifc halves -I recently sold some rolls at my local coin club. That may be an option (12 bucks for $10 face). Like another poster, I too have an 'upgrade' method. I have my dansco set and then three Kennedy folders. If a half replaces the dansco half it then replaces the folder and that coin hits the dump bin. I keep ALL the '87 minted coins because those are hard to come by. Who wants to celebrate with me as I just completed (except 1916d) my merc set???This is off topic but how are you guys storing your silver finds?? I hate the cascade effect of tubes, 2x2s suck, and I can't find 1.5x1.5 flips that are truly PVC free. (Saf-T flips aren't 100% PVC free). Looking for individual storage with minimal space. Thanks!

It didn't recognize it for me on Android either, I think it's a recent thing, it's always worked in the past.

2 more boxes of dimes, 1 was almost solid 2011, the other had 4 silver roosies.

Another box of nickels, skunk... I think that's the first time I've ever been skunked on three nickel boxes in one day.

I am not. However I did recommend it to my father who is retired.

I don't think that's really possible in this day and age... maybe circa 2002-2003 it could be done... but today? No way. Silver is too high in price (attracts too much attention) and transportation fees (gas) are also high. Toss in the fact that roll searching seems to be getting more and more popular, which thins out supply, and you've got a tough, tough market to make a living in. I figure you'd need to pull down 20 oz a week ($800-$900) to remain profitable and feed yourself... that's a lotta silver.
