hey swish, is the color on that bottom ancient what they call a "hard green patina?" ... that's nice looking!

no, it's actually what they call verdigris, or corrosion, or whatever. the coin was cheap ($5), and i liked the reverse design, so i picked it up. normally, that much corrosion would make me run from the coin.

Although I have a few of these already I couldn't pass on this one. It arrived today.

I'm not rabid about commemoratives. But some of them are so darned pretty, don't you think? Irresistible.

I have a feeling this thread will light up like a Christmas Tree after the Chicago ANA Convention. We are going to have a fair amount of coin talk members present, and with such a large boarsh area, there will be some serious money trading hands.

It is a nice looking coin but you are looking at an image using one light. Grade looks right to me.

I agree to disagree[IMG]. [IMG] I have seen a few MS-63-64RB 1909 the look the same as that on in a Pcgs slab to. [IMG]but I am no expert noway shape or form.

I would think a 63 is within reach of that coin, all-be-it doubtful, but there is just no way that would make a 64.
