Thanks tonedcoins, yep I'm happy-and no I'm not crazy lol. I guess the folks who go to coin shops and shows and drop money on a higher grade slabbed coins don't appreciate that in the real world they don't fall out of the sky.

This does NOT apply to everyone and I apologize if that came out as a generalization. This was directed towards those that don't share my appreciation of BU coins and the "every day is Christmas" feeling I get when I have a pocketful of rolls to search. Honestly, what do you get out of making fun of someone or putting down their find? There are a lot of great people on this forum, and I enjoy sharing in their finds as well-big and small. They are all big to us!

Thank you very much mojavedave for your understanding and appreciation of my find and how I acquired it. It had been a tough year for us, and this was my anniversary present I guess (9 years on the 12th) and he loves this coin now as much as I do, and he is beginning to learn and understand coins too. My "obsession"is quickly becoming an interest/hobby for him too, and something we do together now. Who knew modern US coin cherrypicking could be couples therapy ;) ? LOL!

Nice find! The closest I've never found an '09 VDB but I did get a 1910-S in change once a few years back. Not nearly as exciting, but still cool.

I talked to a "rare" coin guy who is the only guy in 45 miles and he was ready to jump on it but I have decided to wait and see how it grades. I'm sending it in at the end of the month with a few other coins (my first grading!), probably to NGC because I can afford them lol. I've checked their current prices and feel it's worth it, even if I hold on to it to pass on to one of my kids. Who knows how many more will be found in the years to come and how it affects value. I well be sure to let you know what I get back for grading . My highest concern is to get it preserved before the environmental damage-small verdigris on obverse and reverse-gets worse. Its such a clean coin now, void of major scratches and dings. I hope you have great luck with your future searches and purchases :b8nce: !

Lol who knew looking for coins could be such great marital bonding/therapy? It used to be we had to SPEND them to have fun together!! Much appreciated zach24, and happy hunting! :w8v4:

IIRC BNB was a novice who thought he was tough as a nickel steak because he happened to have collected coins for like five minutes. Maybe ten minutes. :D

If you send it in to grade I guess that it will high AU/low MS... but it will not grade with that little hunk of verdigris on it.

Honestly it's a great coin but I'd save your money... your going to spend more getting it graded then it'll be worth when its done.

A great coin found on a lucky date--07/11. I also received a 1909-VDB many, many years ago from a circulation find.
