so a couple of days ago i did a big no-no and bought a coin from ebay that was slabbed by a company that ive never heard of ( which i have since found out is belived to be a home slabber). the reason is that living in the uk i never see slabbed coins and i just wanted one for the sake of havng it. also i have never seen a cameo in hand. i have taken a couple of angled pics as it seems to show better then straight on. please let me know what you think. it was sold as pr70 frosted cameo (obviously i know its not pr70).

    Nice. Yes, it's a cameo.

Most folks have to pay tuition for mistakes like buying home-slabbed coins. You got away lucky!

Theoretically, any proof coin of a regular circulation issue made in the '80s (especially 1984) or later is supposed to be cameo.

Proofs were always intended to be cameo. But it was not until 1973 that the mint stopped using the Proof dies once the cameo effect was no longer being imparted to the coins. Prior to that date a Proof with cameo devices was pretty scarce. But from 1973 on pretty much all Proof coins had the cameo devices.

I mentioned '80s because I have a few 1977, 78 proof Ike dollars that are not cameos, and my '78-S quarter is struggling to be a cameo.

By 1984 about 99.994% of the proof coins issues by the US Mint were deep cameos. And about the inverse preportation were 70"s.
