This dime came from a proof set that I purchased. It along, along with the quarter, were beautifully toned around the edges with a firey, orange color. On the dime, the only part of Roosevelt it covered was his hair, so it always looked cool to me. I know people are willing to pay different amounts for toned coins though. Thoughts?
I am a toned coin collector. However, this particular toning isn't a beauty, to me at least. I wouldn;t add any value to the coin because of that toning. I would pay $7 for that coin.
Thanks for that reply! I guess I should have mentioned that toned coin collector's replies would be most appreciated
And I should have mentioned, the coin is very nice! When it comes to Roosevelt toners, I personally look for a much more colorful toning though. For example, something along these lines:
I collect primarily Morgan toners, but the toning on your dime is not that which would encourage someone to pay a premium for it. Chris
Taylor, interesting use of old English. Maybe you should be living back in 1792 in the Colonies. -Brian
Hm...how come my grampa does not talk like that then..heis old. he just gose beeeep...yep..you knowwhat I mean..
Just bought a proof Franlkin and Kennedy half dollar with the exact tonning. Since its on a Franklin half, would it be worth more?
No, if it is at the same level as this dime.... The toning must be rather extravagant or very attractive for a buyer to pay a premium.... Of course a picture could'nt hurt
