went to the bank today and noticed a really shiny, almost proof-like, edge of a half in the teller's tray. so i picked up $9.50 in loose halves (all the halves in the tray so i didn't have to ask for just one coin) and it turns out the shiny edge belonged to a 1978-s! my first proof half from circulation!!!

Had some trouble getting my usual boxes this week. But....I was able to get a box of halves at lunch...

    9 40%ers! Best box I've had in a while.

Also have another one I plan on getting tonight, will keep you all posted.

I searched $120 in dimes yesterday...no Silver. Decided to give up CRH'ing the rest of my trip to just enjoy my time with the Girlfriend and the Kids! I think I made the right choice! :smile

Thanks Ace, yes indeed it was good one. I stopped by another branch after work to get a box of halves, but got skunked. I can't complain though, I was happy with what I got out of the first one.

I also have a box of Nickels to go thru this weekend, haven't done one of those in I don't know how long.

Yeah sometimes it's nice just to forget your addiction and enjoy life for awhile, you made the right choice Ace.

Honestly, I'm not sure how they would enforce that. I'd join up and use the counter until they tell you to stop. I mean, if you dump $500, then $500 the next week, then another $500 the third week, what will they do? I suppose the tellers may remember you, but not exactly how much you dump.
Maybe try to just dump there once a month, maybe twice a month. I bet you'll have no issue. And if you do have an issue, they'd just tell you "this is the last time you can do this". They can't say "too bad, you've already dumped and can't get the cash without paying the fee." They'd have to tell you beforehand. I'd give it a shot.

I checked out the machine. As a non-member, they take 7% fee - the machine spits out a receipt and you cash it at the teller. As a member, you must put your bank card in the machine, and the machine deposits the coin into your account. I suppose the limit is automatically recorded, and further use of the machine would result in 7% fee deducted from your account. :(

We all bow to you, King Erin. You're luck is uncanny. I truly believe you smell silver.

    A $1000 coin for $2.85.....Wow.

Me? I picked up $20 of loose halves today. Skunk. I also picked up a box and found 4 40%ers.

    And, Yes, I've found 2 40% silver 1976 halves.

Erin, how do you find estate sales?

4 boxes dimes, 6 silvers (Streak is over! Finally! Not a single 2011!) including a '44.

2 boxes nickels, 3 wars and a 1910 V-Nick. That makes 3 in my last 6 (real) boxes. Wow.

Now off to a cookout with some friends to get drunk.

Next box of dimes I do (Inevitably tomorrow) will be my 100th box. This year. I did 106 all of last year, lol.

Called and visited a boat load of banks in my area and only came up with 1 40%er and 2 silver dimes on friday. I also pick up my 5th box of 2011P dimes!!!!!!! What a buzz kill. I get all excited to open up the box and when I do its a full box of 2011 dimes:mad::mad::mad:. 115 silver dimes pulled from boxes this year.

Well, just finished a box of cents...it was kind of disappointing. Got the following:

    5 Wheaties
    1946
    1947 D
    1950 D
    1952 D
    1957 D

    6 'S' mintmarks
    1970 SX2
    1971 S
    1972 SX2
    1974 S

    4 Canadians
    1975
    1998
    1999
    2006

    And my first Panamanian Centesimo
    1980

Did replace some of my lincolns with nice red examples but nothing extraordinary, about 20% copper as well.

Well, they weren't exactly rolled, but I got 57 Ikes from an eBay seller -- for $55, plus $5 shipping.

Circulated, some with gunk on them, but mostly in somewhat better shape than I'm used to finding. A dozen or so 1972-P, but no Type II. I know, because the lot also turned up a single 1972-S 40% silver for comparison. :D

Had a long drive to a family event today. Was only able to make one stop. $3.50 in halves was nothing but got 5 more ikes.

Awesome bargain hunting, man! That's a sweet find!

I need to get back to getting boxes of halves. Many people seem to be going to dimes as well.

In the past month I've pulled 2 silver dimes and a silver quarter from my cash tray at work, but I've got an itch that only a silver half can scratch, so I'm getting some boxes next week.

I have seen AggieCollector's 1916-D and his lovely book of cents. It is truly a remarkable find! Great job!

2 boxes of nickels gave up a few BUs and 4 war nicks including two that would grade vf-xf.Box of dimes gave up a '65 Canadian, 80% silver.

Sunked on 2 boxes of dimes and a box of halves, but did find a silver dime at work this morning so not a total loss for the weekend
