Skunked on halves, skunked on nickels.

    Try again tomorrow, I guess.

Tried out some nickels last night - 25 BWR yielded 2 war nickels. Got another 25 BWR to search...

Still trying to figure out if I should be keeping my eye out for anything else. Do the low mintages from before the 60's yield any significant premiums?

I found these at a local bank that only has a few branches. I had 6 more Liberties, 3 40% Kens and 7 90% kens, but just traded them. It was the highest ratio of silver halves I ever found while roll hunting. All of this was in 18 $10 rolls (all that they had at the branch). It had to be a batch just sitting somewhere for a while, because the newest halves were dated 2001. Most of the time I would be lucky to find 1 40% Ken in a $500 box. I don't recall ever finding Walking Liberties in circulation before (maybe one). This branch had only been open for a week. I thought I'd stop in while on my silver hunting run, hoping to find one or two halves in a teller's tray. I asked if they had any halves, and the teller asked me how many do I want. I asked her how many she had, and she again asked how many do I want. I told her I have $200 on me, and she went to check. She came back with 18 rolls and said I would have to open an account if I want more. While I was waiting for her, the manager from their norther branch (who was their training the newbies) asked, "What; You need halves? God, I got a boatload of them at the _____ branch(the home office). Apparently, that is where this branch got their inventory from. I now know they have over 60 more rolls. If it wasn't a 2 hour drive, I'd have them already. Since they will not transfer them down, they said they would hold them for me until next week.

I went for a ride this afternoon in my friend's 1936 Ford Coupe. About a mile from home we ran out of gas (those old Ford gas gauges still don't work!) While he was calling anybody he could think of that might have a gallon of gas on hand, I walked to the Hixville (really, that is the name of the town) General Store to buy some refreshments. I ended up with a 1969 Kennedy Half in change. Not too bad for a 15 minute walk on a great summer afternoon! Happy 4th of July everybody!

    Fixed that for you.

And yes, it is making me poor! This money comes out of my roll-searching funds, haha. I think I've got like, $350 right now to search with, not even enough for a box of halves... need to move these. Gonna put some lots up at a $150 BIN for $100 face and see if I get any bites, and maybe toss a lot of 100 up for auction, although I didn't do too good with 'em last week.
