This is an award medal rather than an SCD, but it has always been one of my favorites. I bought it at FUN 2007 for $165. It is bronze over a copper core, 76mm in diameter, 9mm from rim to rim and weighs a whopping 9.9oz.

    9.9 oz!?!?

    Wow!

No wonder it cost that much.

    A beauty.

...........and it was worth every penny they melted to make it except for the 1877. Actually, the dealer had a pricetag of $225 on it and I was able to talk him down, but if he had remained insistent on that price, I would have paid $225 for it anyway.

Thanks.I don't know when they were originally minted. I think they are repressings of the original medals. I bought my first medal, high relief NYC city, from them around fourteen years ago. I'll post more of them.

Your medals are cool. I believe I have the one with the mystical symbol in the, I assume, crystal ball. I like the hand will have to look up what it means.

I love this thread because we don't see enough medals posted here. I really like all the ones you guys have posted so far. Although I don't consider myself a medal collector per se, I do buy medals issued by numismatic organizations, collectors, dealers etc. I've posted some of them in the past, but I'll have to see if I can take some pics of others and put them up. Keep them coming!
