They are charging me $7.50 a box service fee for my box of halves tomorrow. I agreed to it since my bank that usually orders forgot to order for me last week.

No halves today, same bank that the truck wasn't there on time yesterday, had their computers 'down' when I was there so they couldn't get into the vault. Now I will just try and pickup tomorrow after work.

On another note I'm thinking about searching some Nickels again, just for a little more variety, maybe a box/week, I just have the time right now to search as much as I'd like.

Got a call today, one of my branches has $500 in a box for me and $62 someone cashed in. Combined with the $1k arriving at PNC Friday (Wont have cash to take all that at once) I should be able to search $1500 in halves this weekend.

Sweet Merc, hopefully that $62 will have some silver in it for you...I can never seem to find a large amount that someone cashed in. I take that back I found $20 in loose about 15 minutes after a guy cashed in, had 1 40% and about 10 Ikes.

They only called me because of the box and the fact that they like me there. Bunch of younger tellers and whatnot.

Well if the box is a decent box I guess its probably closer to 30 minutes, when I open the roll I look at the edge to see if there is any silver, if I don't see anything I usually go through the coins in hand pretty quick (I did find one silver in my last box that I wouldn't have found edge-checking). When I got my 4 skunk boxes in a row, it just felt like there wasn't any silver while I was going through them, so I was going rapid fire, just to be done with them. Per your request here is my step-by-step secret formula for 30 minute box searching : Step 1 - open roll. Step 2 - look at coins in roll. Step 3 - toss back into unused box/set aside silver coin. Step 4 - repeat steps 1-3. :)

p.s. I guess I just thought of this, but I open boxes with my dad, so it takes probably half the time that it would take 1 person, so our times are pretty much the same after that.

I bust through halves in probably about 20 minutes, they're cake.

Is edge checking good enough? or should I check them all?

3 stops today produced 3 40% halves and 120 ikes. I have found a lot of ikes this week.

    Mini Road Trip

Was planning on 4 hours of CRHing on Friday but those planned got foiled by an unexpected trip to the dentist. While I was in that area they have 3 TD banks I could use to dump so I figured I would get some coin and try my luck.

Bank 1: $250 dimes - all 2011 - returned to a diff bank, and they had the same thing
    Bank 2: $250 dimes BWR- 2 Roosie
    Bank 3: $100 dimes BWR - skunk
    Bank 3: $100 Q's BWR - skunk
    Bank 4: $250 dimes - all 2011
    Bank 5: $250 dimes - CWR - 2 Roosie
    Bank 6: $100 dimes - CWR - skunk
    Bank 7: $250 dimes - BWR & CWR - skunk

Pretty dissapointed finding all the 2011 brand new dimes and the Roosie per box average is way down from what I find in my local area.

No. Sometimes the 40%ers look clad from the edge in my experience. If you want to do it quickly, check the edge AND do a sound test. Best way is to check the dates.

I started roll searching when i was younger and ended up with some nice coins over the years. It's what got me started collecting in the first place. :D

So I got my 2 boxes of halves from Wells Fargo. Remember the $7.50 per box fee. Well the teller never said anything about it...neither did I. NO FEE!

Before that I went to cash in my dimes from last night at TD Bank. As I walk in there is an elderly lady just finishing up with her daughter at the Penny Arcade (Coin counter). They were quite excited with their $2.85 in change. She checked the reject tray and there was nothing.

About half way through my $500.00 of dimes the machine filled up. The teller comes out to change all of the bags (apparently it had been getting worked over before I arrived). To my surprise (after the lady and her daughter left) the PVC chute was stacked with coins. There was about 18-20 coins in there. I'd say most of them were foreign, but some stuff I'd never seen. I grabbed them as it was my machine at that point. In addition to the foreign I found:

    1 x 1968 Kennedy Halve
    3 x Silver Quarters
    2 x Silver Rosie Dimes
    2 x Wheat Pennies

I got a feeling about today. Either way, thats a free $30+ in Silver from that ladies lack of knowledge. Had I seen her still in the bank I would have gladly given it to her or at least offered her cash for it all. Unfortunately, she was gone.

I'd check the dates too. It goes by quick when you get a routine going. I would have missed a few Silvers if I just checked the edges.

HOTN - I'm seeing a lot more 2011 Dimes too. However, I've only gotten a few boxes with full rolls. Man those suckers are blinding!!! Those boxes still seem to be producing at least 1-2 Silvers on average.

Thanks for the reply; that's exactly what I'm doing.

I just realized that you guys probably aren't rolling them back up...? We don't have coin counting machines at the banks out here, so I gotta wrap them back up to avoid fees.

More discussion on Friday about ordering and dumping boxes...
