Blank cent found at a lowes!

Since you got it from Lowes, look at it as a DIY coin. You can put any design and denomination on it that you want.:devil:

That's assuming that it is a zinc-based planchet, but since it is undated it could also be a copper-based planchet. Right?

One reason the Cent planchets aren't worth as much as other planchets is that the Mint gives out "sample" packets on some of their tours that consist of a celophane packet with a cent and a planchet in it. I was told that they discontinued this years ago but here is one that I have with a 2010 Shield cent in it.

 

Hey I think that is a good find for sure. I found one that a guy is trying to sell at his shop but it does not have the rim on it. I would like to have one but he wants $5 and want come down on his price so I will keep looking.

a different way of giving someone a gift? or just not knowing you spent a silver dime/quarter as a clad one.

 

Who cares what one stubborn collector like red says it is in fact a error hard to find usually in pocket change. So red you in fact are ruining a coin collectors experience In the field of coins so keep those things to your self!

 

In regards to the whole $2 bill thing, something did happen with $2 bills, and it happened at Best Buy. Dude tried to pay his bill with 57 sequentially numbered bills, and a couple had smudged ink. The police detained him for three hours before releasing him.

 

I was lucky enough to find two of those myself.

I worry that some counterfeiter could amass a large number of planchets and mint counterfeits of high price error coins on them. It would be harder to detect as long as the machine used to strike the image was up to par.

 

Something similar happened to me...I found a quarter planchet in a roll at my place of employment. Definitely an exciting/cool find

 

The Chinese are already doing that except they make their own planchets.
