I finally got the microscope suggested by iGradeMS70 last month (refer to thread: http://www.cointalk.com/t177466/) It's takes great pictures, which is surprising for it's $30 price tag. Here are some photo examples (Wave over the photos to zoom): $5 Bill micro-printing: 1995 Lincoln Cent DDO: 2011 Silver Eagle: 1943-D Wartime Jefferson Nickel: 1921-D Morgan Silver Dollar:
These are some good pics, wonder how it would work on ancients since I am tired of trial/error with the iphone.
Can you get the whole coin or just pieces of it? Also did you notice the copper is the same color as the silver coins?
1. Yes, you can get the whole coin if you focus correctly. 2. Yes, that is just the lighting in the photo, of course.
Here is an ancient example for you. Gallenius, Bronze Antoninianus, A.D. 253-268. I know that they aren't the best because I took them quickly: Close up: Obverse: Reverse:
Reading the other thread all the way through, it seem it isnt too mac friendly, which is the only type of computer I have. Did anyone get it to work easily on a mac?
Great pictures. After seeing your photos, I just ordered one Thanks, been looking for a reasonable one for a while.!
I had messaged the seller & she said no, but directed me to one that works with Macs, more expensive too :/. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280679754960 Ill think on it....
I just ordered one. Maybe I will get better at posting pics on here. I always use a binocular microscope that is not digital, and am not really "in" to photography at all. If this is as easy as it appears, I will post more pics in the future.
