I've been putting together a set of nic-a-dated buffalo's that I have nic-a-dated, nobody elses. Got most of the older dates and had the 15-S, but money talks so I sold it. The 30's are the most difficult to find as I expected and I'm out of dateless buffalo's. :-( I'm no photographer but here they are, but all you can see are the nickels. It has been fun;
Nice goal. Of course the coins from the 30's are the toughest to find because they didn't circulate very long before they were replaced by the Jefferson and once that happened the buffaloes started being being withdrawn by the public. That means that most of them didn't circulate long enough to wear the date off completely.
Put some in your pockets every day and let them wear off! See how long it takes. I'd be interested to know.
I know what you mean by the 30's are hard to find, I Nic-a-dated 120 coins, got no 30's at all, but it looks cool to complete a set, I really just did it for a fun experience, I keep them in a Littleton folder, I might sell them, and the rolls I made of the ones I did not put in the folder just to buy some other coins, since if I ever set my mind on a buffalo set, I would want them undamaged, but it is always a huge accomplishment making a complete set, especially out of coins not bought just for their date.
