Haha, you guys are too funny. I am more of a homeless beggar picking up coins off the street at face value...Besides Solomon was more about gold. I can't seem to find gold coins at face value but I am trying!

I hear ya, I am unemployed. Barely $100.00 to my name. I am kinda hoping while I search for work that this will help with the monotony and help bolster my bank account.

Yeah, I thought I could use it to supplement my formerly crappy income.

Didn't work out like that. I probably "made" $1k roll-searching... if I sold everything. Net, I'd estimate it was a break-even proposition factoring in time and gas prices.

I stopped at a bank on the way home.

    They had 2 halves: One was a 1964 :D

So, I bought 6 rolls of dimes and 5 rolls of nickels: In the dimes, I found my 2nd ever Mercury Dime :D :) :D a very nice 1942.

I still have the nickels to look through later tonight.

Since I've only ever found 2, I get way more of a thrill finding a Merc than a 1964 half even though the half is worth a lot more. That was a nice stop :)

Went through some dimes, nickels, and pennies over the weekend. Found 3 Roosies in 8 boxes of dimes, nothing too amazing in nickels, a few wheats in pennies and a 1995 DD (though its a little bit dirty)

I was depositing some cash into my account and saw a silver edge in the teller tray right in the middle of the stack. I asked him if he had any halfs and he said just about $9. I'll take em I said, sure enough 69 40%er. Score!!

    Congrats on the Merc, Bob.

Thought I should toss it on here, since I've been a fairly frequent contributor here... Since my new job is kinda rough in terms of time off during banking hours (I think I'll get like, one weekday off every week after my first month or so) my roll searching is pretty much over excepting Saturdays and Sundays... and even down the road, once I have a day off every week, I'll be working every other weekend, so...

Oh, and Ace, you can consider WC your turf now, I won't be up that way hardly ever at all any more. Tip for ya, the tellers at TD in West Goshen are awesome. They were always really friendly with me, got to know them well. Tellers at the WF on Paoli Pike near the Staples don't pick silver out of the tray, or at least they don't pull 40%ers, I found several there.

I like it Bob! I see you took my advice to pick up a couple of rolls of dimes and nickels or pennies. It is a way to sample and move on quickly. On another note, I never search early in the week but since I had such a great weekend, I thought I would stop in today. 2 banks, $12 in halves yielded 1 1964 and 8 40%'ers. So back to my regular weekend schedule haha.

Hey Merc - thanks for the info! Good Luck with the new job as well...stay in touch with us here. I enjoyed your posts and you helped me a lot in this hobby! I will definitely try West Chester sometime soon.

Best of luck with the new job!

Posting takes a fraction of the amount of time that searching does, so I'm certainly not going anywhere in the short term... hopefully things work out well with my job and my supe lets me take 1hr lunch breaks, that would give me enough time to run out and get some food plus stop by a bank and get a box of whatever to search in the evening each night. The problem will be cashing in, but apparently my regular hours will be 9:30-6, so I should be able to wake up early after my initial training period and cash in. If not, though, that will be the death knell for my super-frequent searching unless I somehow come up with enough cash to keep the searching going between dumps.

Today was day #2 of no searching and I need to make it to Saturday... I feel like an addict, because I am one.

TD is open until 8:00 in NYC, and opens at 7:30 :) I imagine it is similar in Philly.

Box of dimes: 64D, 62, and a beat up 41. The 41 & 62 were in the same roll

Nice dime box. I'm hoping for a normal dime box sometime this week like you got. It's feast or famine with my dime boxes around here.

Can't deposit or get change via the drive through unless you call ahead and make sure its put out and aside for you, though.Waking up early is definitely a sacrifice I'll make if boxes produce well again.

Most branches in NYC don't have drive through!

Nice job, 9 silvers is 2 banks is a nice score. But regarding picking up a few rolls....I've been doing that for a year and a half or so.

I feel for you....it's gonna take some getting used to especially with how many boxes you had been going through. I'm on a business trip now, so no searching for me until Friday (although I just walked across the street from the hotel to a bank.....2 halves, both clad). But for me, it's only this week. With you, it will be a complete change. good luck.....

No box today of halves...aghh, going thru withdraws....I got to my dump bank and counter is out of service...I will definately open an account this weekend for another dump bank. Also going to only get boxes on Wed, Thurs, and Fri now. I don't have much time because I am taking classes at night right now 6-9:30 PM M-Th, and this is after working my regular 9-5 gig. But as soon as class is over Aug 1., I'll be hitting it harder!

Btw, sorry for not responding to your PM's Erin. I just noticed that I got them, will get back to you tonight.

    Quick Update:

Been to several other BoA branches, since being told it's $5 per bag to cash in coin, and not a single on has mentioned anything about fees for cashing in coin. So much for that other branch. Also, I have been putting the H rolls into other cardboard boxes, so it doesn't look like I'm getting boxes and just dumping them - seems to be working.

Went to another town for an appointment this morning, dumped 2 boxes of H's at a BoA up there; they didn't even ask if I had an account! lol Picked up $24 loose at a few different banks...skunk.

Stopped by the branch where The Wife's friend is the manager (30+ years), she's got me set up for 4 boxes of H's delivered every Monday. YES!! Probably can increase the order in a few months... heh.
