Hello I bought this coin 1804 and i dont know if it is fake or not. is it fake? how much is worth ? thank you
If you look where it's been scratched on the reverse, you can make the word COPY was there. 100% fakeamundo.
Ouch! Lesson learned I hope? If you bought this online I hope the lesson you learn from this is buy only certified, PCGS, NGC, ANNACS or ICG, coins and not raw. If you got it from eBay and the seller didn't mention it was a copy, you have a case to get your money back by filing SNAD against the seller.
I didn't even see that...lol. As soon as I saw the rim I knew it was fake and didn't blow the pictures up. But, it is clearly there.
I would say only buy PCGS or NGC. ANACS and IGC are not what they used to be. They aren't the quality TPGs they once were and IMHO...their newer slabs are to be avoided.
PCGS and NGC are being faked now too. If you don't check on the registration number and pic, you could be getting a fake in a fake slab. That one there is as obvious as the day is long.
I WISH I COULD find a legit 1804 dollar for ten bucks.Actually I wish I could find one for 50,000 dollars.
I agree with you on this...you still have to be careful and there is no fool proof way to get around knowing what you are buying. That said...assuming you are looking at an authentic slab, only PCGS and NGC are good these days. Some of the older slabs (ANACS and ICG specifically) were good...but the newer one's are not. If I'm looking to buy a slabbed coin, I only buy PCGS and NGC...every other slab I consider as equal to a raw coin.
$10. That's a cheap lesson for you. A lot of people pay a LOT more than that for cheap fakes like this.
so is the anacs authenticity guarantee no good anymore, or is it just their grading standards that has fallen?
