Nope! It's just that the thread is from June, and you can't view listings that were up that long ago.

Yes, this is the real Brandon Kelley of Jhon E. Cash www.jhonecash.com.

Let me clarify. Yes, this is the same Brandon Kelley that began work at Pinnalce Rarities, then went to work for Adrian with Anaconda Rare Coins, that then worked as Polaris Numismatics who is now Vice President of Jhon E. Cash Currency, Coins, and Collectibles. www.jhonecash.com.

majorbigtime, although quite an opinionated fellow, can back this up and is indeed, a friend of mine, no matter what he posts. ;)

I have to wonder if the lime green is PVC. I bought some cupro nickel junk coins from Greece (as part of a huge world coin deal a few years back) that had lime green on them whcih was in reality PVC. I wonder what this nickel looks like in person.

Seriously????? PVC appears as a hazy and/or thick green particulate on the surfaces of coins. Mirrors and surfaces are destroyed with PVC and are exceptionally apparent as PVC as opposed to a natural patina.

I don't mind taking a beating for paying premiums for toned coins. I'd rather handle those than the ocean of white/dipped coins. I cannot fathom admiring a collection of coins where the only distinction is the date/mm. I want character, originality, and eye appeal. Many will disagree with me and many more will agree with me. I want to sell what I like. I understand the science behind it. There are those who don't and don't appreciate naturally toned coins and that is their perogative. I won't argue with them because confirmation bias is alreay in play. Buy what you like but know the science behind it.

This is an old thread. Interesting reading.

I ended up buying this "lime green & strawberry pink" buffalo nickel from Brandon Kelley (screenname poorguy) of Jhon E Cash Coins a few days ago ... and I also spoke with the previous owner of the coin, Ricky Beale (screenname 900Fine) a long time coin talk member and coin dealer. And after that conversation I feel a lot more comfortable with this coin being NT. Rick had the highest compliments for Brandon, and his ability to ferret out NT coins, and tell the difference between NT and AT, which was nice to hear.

This is what the coin looks like in hand. Not nearly as wildly green as the photos shown on page 1 of this thread, it's more of a soft (almost pastel) lime green -- but I have to say I really like it -- then again I am a huge toned/colored coin lover. I know that colorfully toned coins are not everyones cup of tea, but I love coins that are beautiful and unusual and this fits both categories.

I think I am going to send this one off to Todd at BluCCPhotos to capture on film. It's possible that under certain lighting conditions and certain angles, the coin might take on the bolder more green look that is shown in some of the other photos. In any case, I am happy to be this coins new owner!

I think it's a nice proof and you should enjoy it. I don't know Brandon personally but he's always seemed a straight shooter on all the forums and does locate some beautiful toners. 900Fine is a good guy -- met him at a show last year and I think he has jumped full-time into coin dealing. Always good to see other Buffalo hunters on here.
