Those rings are amazing. I have made a few "spooned" rings but never attempted the ring style like these. I really like them with the coin details on the outside of the ring.

Wish I had seen this thread sooner. My birthday is in Aug so now I can ask for something without worrying about the grade. :)

On his website the Walking Liberty rings sell for around $43.00. I'm attending the Whitman Show in Baltimore and 1944 Walking Libs no mint mark MS63 sell in the $40.00s + $32.50 to make the ring it's around $75.00 or so versus $43.00 on his website. I was thinkig the MS63 coins will ake a better ring.

I have no idea if Judd did this one which I picked up at the Santa Clara Show this past April:

I think it was $39.95 or so.

Ouch! While I think these rings are beautiful, could we all think about trying to find a damaged coin to make them out of? Taking a good MS63 and ruining permanently just makes the collector in me cringe horribly. If you want higher details, have a bullion dealer look out for a nice wlaker with a big scratch in it or something for you.

My wife would love one of those, thanks for the tip! Requested a quote! She's not a collector, but it would go beautifly w/ the 44 Merc Necklace I gave her for Xmas!

    Agreed.
Find an MS coin that has a problem or has been cleaned.
If it has been cleaned, you can still either artificially patina it or let it grow a natural one from wearing.
There should be plenty of high detail problem coins out there.

Today, I bought this Walking Liberty at the Baltimore Whitman show to send to the Coin Ring Guy on the Left Coast.
After reading some the recent comments in this thread I may not send it to the ring factory.
Sorry for the scanned burned images but I can't find my camera.

I REALLY like that Canadian Large Cent ring!!!

I also like the Barber Half ring that I bought, but I think that I like that large cent!!!

Won't it turn your finger green, though?

I think they are cool, but they ruin the coin which I would rather have in my collection. IMO

Mike, The Canadian coins are copper. They can turn your finger green if they are not sealed. I accent polish each ring then apply a clear jewelry sealer. Over time the sealer will wear off and needs to be reapplied. Just about as easy as it gets.

Dan, I can understand where you are coming from. I use coins that would otherwise be hidden away somewhere for years at a time. My customers display their coins on their finger to enjoy them daily. To each their own.

    Here are a couple more:

Ron, thanks for posting again. At the last baltimore whitman show I bought a very nice WLH to send to you to be made into a ring.
I got involved in other projects and never got my finger sized for ring. I will get the size then send the coin to you.

If you check Slickdeals, they have a link to a site that will send you free plastic ring sizers.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't done anything about the ring. I'll have to find the WLH.
