Went detecting today here in Michigan. Great weather for it, nice and cool. Found this 1918 S Walking Liberty Half Dollar along with two mercs. The 1916 I was hoping for a D mint mark but it just wouldn't show up now matter how hard I tried to make it. The one Indian head penny is a 1906. Found lots of wheaties and other clad coinage. Fun stuff.
all right jimmy, your gonna have to tell me where your at, and Ill find a metal detector somewhere and we are gonna go detecting, lol. I love reading post from CT members who live in the same state as I do. Makes me want to pack my things up and take a little trip.
Looks like you had a nice day, congratz. I went the other day and found nothing, but did find a very old Pepsi bottle and it was half submerged in moss...
I usually find something old. How much depends on how much was lost where I'm detecting. I try to hit spots that had activity back in the day to increase my odds of old finds. thanks, Jim
I found the two mercs at an old fairground site. I found the indian and half at an old home site, with permission of course. Thanks, Jim
Location, location, location. Old schools, old church lots, old home sites. All with gained permission first though.
Who do you ask for permission the person that owns the property? And how do you go about contacting them?
those are some awesome finds. i didnt even find a silver coin when i was detecting. it was still fun tho and id still do it if i had even my cheap one.
Nice JimmieJam. Your 1916 Merc is in better condition than most of the ones I come across in coin shops.
