There's not a whole lot of dealers in my area, so whenever I'm out of town I usually go to the coin shop. I also buy online occasionally.

I personally add to my collection when I go to the banks. All of my stuff is circulation grade. I got 50 Eisenhowers from the bank once simply by asking if they had any unusual currency. You don't need a lot of money if you don't mind doing a bit of sorting.

I add to my silver art bar collection whenever I have the cash and I am able to find a silver art bar that is on my silver art bar wish list.

I usually add something to my collection/horde every week, usually copper cents from roll searching.

Probably about 4-6 US Type coins a year , and at least 2 X a month or more for CWT and storecards off of ebay .

I've added about 45-50 coins to my collection so far this year.
That's spread out over 20-25 times.

    In a year:
Definitely the 4 Whitman shows that are nearby.
5 to 6 local shows (but I don't attend them all).
1 to 2 Teletrade wins (I bid a lot more but generally I get outbid).
    5 to 10 from MFD.
And the rest are from eBay.

    I usually add a couple coins a month. Just purchased a 1915 cent AU-55 w/ lam. error.

We've got a local show in my area that usually runs twice a month. Sometimes I walk away with something, other times I leave empty handed. Teletrade and Heritage are a good source of additions to what I collect, but not so much lately......

Sometimes everyweek but with taking a small break from ancients for resuming U.S., it will be maybe twice a month.

At least you get more with your $ with ancients :/

  13. Depends if I like the coin and its available at a price I'm willing to pay. I've added as much as 5 coins in a week and as little as 1 in a month.

I add something from circulation nearly every day. Buying though.... maybe once or twice a month. Twice in the last month (1930-D SLQ and 1853-O half dime). Mostly when I can afford it.

The Whitman shows in Baltimore, an occasional E Bay purchase, and an item or two from the US Mint. Money is tight here as well. I used to hit flea markets every other weekend, but I have not done this much of late. I last went to flea market over the late Winter and did not buy anything. I have been saving my money waiting for the Whitman show here next week. I plan on adding a 1884 and 1888 Philadelphia Mint Morgan to my collection.

If I am near a coin and it is for sale, I will buy if there is any way I can. I am sort of bad that way.

I keep a budget for myself - every paycheck, a certain amount goes to my coin purchasing budget. Depending on the price tag of the coin I want, sometimes that can mean 2-3 coins every other week, sometimes only 1 coin every month or two.

When silver prices were running close to $50 an ounce, everyone raised their prices considerably to reflect those prices and that put a lot of what I collect out of my budget for a while.

Now that the price of silver has dropped back in the $30 range, I'm starting to find some deals on things.

Before silver spiked I was adding to my collection monthly.

I buy whenever the fund present themselves.
Sometimes it is often, sometimes the funds aren't available for a while.
I am always adding something though.
Pocket change and occaisional trips to the bank for face value goodies are cheap thrills.
Star note ones, and looking at serial numbers for rare variations is also a cheap way of feeding the need.

I used to add about every week, but my hours are down at work, so now maybe once a month (via local auction house).
