This coin crossed my desk this morning and i thought it just had a nice look to it so I shot a couple of quick shots and threw them together. This coin is a little nicer then the one in the Overton book even. I just wanted to post it cause I thought some early type collectors might enjoy.

Hmmmmm, interesting. I've never seen one like that before. The bulge, in front of the chin, is that from a die clash ? I can't think of anything else that might cause it.

Real nice indeed. I don't have an Overton book handy so I can't look up the Overton number but that does look like the top of the eagle's wing clashed with the obverse die in front of Liberty.

It corresponds with the wing on the reverse of course. I'm not sure if it is a clash or if it is an effect of the pressures being transferred through the planchet from the reverse dies into the obverse die... similar to the ghosting you sometimes see on English large cents.
